Do you think they would say "it happens" if you or I hit this truck? I am sure you would be drug in for a blood test. Another case of, do what I say, not what I do.

Few years ago something similar happened in my home town. Cop was on his department issued cell phone ran a RED light and t boned a girl I went to high school with. She passed away in the accident and no charges were ever filed against the officer that hit her. He was relieved of his duty but no charges of vehicular manslaughter or motor vehicle homicide. Makes you wonder where the justice is? She was all of 16 years old when her life was taken by the neglegance of somebody who supposedly protects us over a stupid phone call.
