Also 8/2 split only works when you have hours on your 70. You cant split break while re capping because you dont have the hours left.

 

The other thing to be mindful of in that the 2 hours counts towards your 14. So if you have a 15 min pretrip 15 min fuel then that leaves you 30 mins of on duty off duty or sleeper plus your 11 drive time. Once you use more than the 1 hour of non driving time it starts cutting into your driving time. This is where most drivers get caught. Running a split can be costly. If you are off by 15 minutes everything after that is a fineable offense. Tread very carefully if you aren't proficient in using the rule.

 

Take your 8 drive to 90 and get your two there. The entire 8 must be logged in sleeper to count. Your elog will show you what hours you have left on each clock. I use the 8 when I need to and havent had issues as long as you pay attention to your summary.
