Same thing here in Ohio. Always trying to find excuse to pull you over. I know this don't help you any but last week was stopped my Ohio DOT and got the thumbs up! That don't happen very often! But next time could be a whole different story.

And if you did fabricate "some sort of air or electric actuated mudflap hanger" I would patent it and sell the rights to it for millions and then retire from trucking. Sorry I couldn't refrain myself on this one:biggrin_2559:

In the last few months Texas has really been cracking down on Commercial Drivers. Part of that is because the Inspection stations are mostly closed all the time, so state troopers do spot checks at "random". Part of the problem was that last year there was a major accident in Texas and State Troopers have kind of had a hard on for CMV's since. On my way back from Buffalo Texas to Weatherford Texas, on I-20 west of Fort Worth I counted 8 Big Rigs pulled over by DPS in less than a five mile spread. Previous to that on I 45 North of Buffalo I saw three more pulled over, then just south of Fort Worth there were two more, so in roughly a 4 hour drive I saw 13 Rigs pulled over by DPS. Honestly its pretty common, especially around the D/FW Metroplex. If they can hit you on Mud Flaps, it gives them a start. Might not be right, but its what is going on.

Ya . the DOT doesn't mess with me it's the dam trooper and right give's them a reason to pull you over , I worked in Wisconsin for about 5 summers no mud flaps needed there , didn't want to go there with this dude I know what he would say ,,,,,,wonder what a judge would say tying up his court room for mud flaps 2 inch to short ........

Yes the old "probable cause" to stop you. That is why I made my flaps longer just to make them come up with something else. I have played that game for years and you can't win. Breaking even is the best you can do with it. And yes if they really want they can find something.

I told the portable scale cop in my area when he said mine was 2 inches too short that if I would put another 10,000 pounds on they would be about right! He didn't see the humor in that.

TDRV2000 chimed in right after me with Mudflap jack.com. Looks like someone beat us both to it. ;-)
