Thanks, IP. These boards are full of folks who want to drag Prime and almost every other company down with whining and complaining! I am looking to get good training, a chance to get good miles in, equipment that is not constantly in breakdown mode, and a company that I don't have to be shy about saying I work for. I also need a company that will allow my spouse and our 4-footed child to ride and Prime is one of several that will. Any other tips or comments would be most welcome! I have read a lot of your posts as well as Ironeagle's and appreciate your positive manner.

All I ever see is don't go to prime. But no reason why. The only real negative things I ever see pertain to leasing and people's failure to make it work.

Can anyone explain Prime's pet policy? I know I can not bring an animal while in training.

Leasing is running a business. Most drivers aren't good businessmen.
IIRC, company drivers must make a $1000 damage deposit taken out in weekly payments. Pet must be 40 lbs or less. No restrictions on lease drivers since they are contractually bound to pay for damages. It will prevent you from running some loads. -
I get that I'm not one so I'll stay company. I just would like to know what people think is so bad. You never get that though. Everybody I've met seems happy here so I'm just curious.

It's one of those junior high school ego things that many people don't quite mature out of. It makes those jerks feel better about themselves to run someone else down, in this case through choice of employment. Any carrier that trains must be obviously in need of very cheap labor, or otherwise they wouldn't train... at least that's how the logic of it goes. The idea that a better employee can be obtained from the ground up doesn't enter into that, nor does the fact that once trained, you will be starting well up the wage scale.

Just popping in to thank all the trainers again for all threads & posts. Can't remember all of you right now & no time to search back using phone now that I'm here. Because of you all, I came as prepared as anyone could.
Only two days in, but much more assured with my choice now that I can see what it's all about firsthand.
A huge thank you to you all! -
Winter driving...No joke. Nebraska 3° complete white outs. TnT

i am curious why the mortality rate in the training is so high. I get background and physical but i have seen on these threads that the minority not majority make it through. Is the simulator and the testing that tough? I saw somewhere that a class started with 70 and only 9 made it to day 4. Does anyone have any input on this/was that just a fluke?
