Look for this: Cold water leak......look at every hose con. and every clamp. You're looking for a white residue like a drool heading south with gravity. Check every hose and connection.

What happens it when it heats up, it expands and seals, when it cools it contracts and leaks. If you park overnight ( engine off ) then take a large sheet of cardboard ,
( couple of oil boxes will work ) and lay them under engine. When you come back the boxes will tell you about any leaks anywhere.

I did this test myself every six months just to do it. It helped me catch little issues before they got big. ( AF, ps hoses , rouge filters, unseen oil leaks and even caught the wash bottle checking out )

Mabe a bad head gasket... one thing you can try is get a glass of water and put the coolant overflow tube ino the glass of water when the engine gets up to temp. If you see bubbles you have a bad head gasket. You can have the coolant system pressurized for leaks as well. Please advis what year the tuck is and the mileage.

Excellent idea. Thanks. Did exactly that and I found 2 small leaks.
So as a preventative measure, I went ahead and decided to replace all hoses. The ones behind
the turbo were a ##### to do but in the process of taking things apart I found some other little issues which would have become a problem had they gone unnoticed.

    Thanks to everyone that responded.

Sometimes it is the precooler leaks and into the motor it goes being undetected.

Just an update. I also found a leak in the oil cooler. Leak was where the oil cooler meets the oil filter assembly.
So a a preventative measure I resealed the oil cooler O-rings and resealed the oil filter housing.

I've noticed that the leak worsened in cold weather but not while I had it plugged in to electric for block heater.

Again thanks to all that responded
