Not really..
You will NOT be paid for training to get your CDL (academy).
You will NOT be paid for orientation.
Once you go out with a mentor after the first week you will start to receive your pay at 00:00 tuesday morning. Like most employers they hold a week that's why you miss the first week. Your first check will be placed onto your com-data card after that direct deposit will kick in if you signed up for it. If not then you will still receive your pay on the com data card I advise you to set up direct deposit has its much easier and cheaper in the long run.
Your first check with be 400$ plus any reimbursables and less taxes. Your pay during mentored training time will be..
weeks 1-2 = 400$
weeks 3-4 = 450$
weeks 5-6 = 500$
From here on its up to the miles your running or account that your on.
swift orientation

Currently Swift covers all school expenses except meals (lunch/dinner). Youre bused to the school, provided a hotel room (comes w/free breakfast), etc. After your 3 weeks of school and 6 weeks on the road with a mentor/trainer you then pay for the school out of your pay for the next 13 months. If you stay an additional 13 months (total of 26 months) theyll reimburse you for your school tuition in 13 monthly installments. So what youre looking at is a free schooling after 26 months working with Swift. Not only is all of this information found on their web site, my son is currently going through the school and has reconfirmed what Ive just passed on.
Good luck!
p.s. I didn't feel like reading all the replys so if this a repeat of info, sorry. -
i am 2 weeks into mentor training. i lucked out got a good mentor.i drive alot of miles. but he makes sure i drive in cities backing at stops etc. he is very good about making me learn what i need too. but he doesnt take advantage of me.(something that is rare with all the scumbag mentors out there).i am happy with the way things are going and consider myself lucky. but when i go to some swift terminals i get sick to my stomach. many of the drivers do not take a #### bath. they look like complete dirtbags. i sat next to one of them at the terminal and he stunk like a pig. with a shower 20 feet away. i shake my head everytime i see those people.

Well consider yourself lucky, I don't work in trucking, and have the same problem, except the nearest shower is likely feet away from their beds and they don't bother to visit it before coming to the office.

well its now monday, leaving for another 2 weeks on the road. 4 weeks to go. my mentor runs dedicated for walmart which is awesome because we are going to the same stores etc.. and i get home time in the 34 reset he likes to take the time off also.im probably gonna piss off those non showering drivers but oh well.im no clean freak but i do like to keep myself clean. wash my clothes regular etc..i was in the salt lake terminal a few days ago. might have been 1 driver that was clean. irony of this is i saw one driver had a swift badge on. dirty beard his glasses looked like he hadnt cleaned them in a year. his hat was equally dirty. then came his clothes. i looked at his jeans and it seemed i could use a putty knife the scrape the funk of them, his shirt looked like to many chili dogs took a vacation on it. irony of it was he was leaning up against the washers and drier's
.with the shower 10 feet away! ive been to one terminal that was heads and shoulders by far the best ive seen. corinne utah. the drivers there are nice and helpful. the dm's are very nice and proffesional. the terminal is clean (even tho its small) showers are nice also. well cya all soon. gotta fire up that truck and get rollin. be safe all.

And on that note, I think it's time to introduce you to Trucker Steve aka White Line Films, and his video called "Drivers Wash Your ##*" LOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-u5N4_ANto -
holy #### i laughed at that video. guys got a good point. drivers wash your ###! with all the truck stops with showers there is no reason to smell like a wet dog. the pilot's and flying j's that ive been to have excellent and clean showers. takes a total of 15 minutes to wash up if your in a hurry. i just cant comprehend why alot of truckers want to grow new forms of life on there body.
