i float. but if i am loaded really heavy, i will double clutch. for me, doing the double clutch method slows down my shifting and im not rushing and slamming the loaded drive train around under the truck.
How do you switch the gear?

I shift without the clutch. I like it because when you really get to know your truck, and you can match your speed and rpms, it sounds like an automatic transmission. And it's easy on the leg, too.

Learn to double clutch....it will always serve you well.....floating works and most drivers use that method (including myself)..but there may come a time when you road test for a really great position, with a really great company that requires you to double clutch. Be sad if you failed the road test because you didn't know how....

How do heavy haulers shift? I'd imagine they almost have to double clutch.
