I am just wondering if being put out by a trainer is really a common thing to have happen in the trucking industry. I have read some post where people were just put out and left and I am about to be in school and just wonder if something like that would happen to me do trainer's really get newbies to break laws so to speak like driving over the drive time I mean doesn't trainers know this guy/girl is new and still learning ? when I do go out I do plan to respect my trainer and his truck and I do know since I'm being trained I will be doing most the work after all that is what I am there for to learn. but saying all that there still only some much any one person can take too

I used to train at a previous company I worked for. Probably had 50 or more trainees over the years. Ran the gamut from not liking them at all, to a few became long term friends. One trainee I had even married my older sister. I had a few who I did not finish training due to personal conflict. But only 2 guys left my truck somewhere other than home or the company terminal. And that was their choice both times. I offered both of them to stay with me to the yard and we'd get them a different trainer, no hard feelings. The one guy lived in Texas but jumped truck in Denver. He had family there. He didn't like me from day one for whatever reason. The other guy got out in Fort Wayne, In. He said he wasn't upset, just decided truck driving wasn't for him. Said he had nothing to go home to Delaware to, so was gonna go hop s bus. I asked where to, he just shrugged and said he didn't know. "Maybe I'll go to Vegas". I felt bad about him leaving. I thought maybe I just wasn't a good fit for him. Offered to get him with a different trainer. Anyway, as a long answer to your question, if you go with a decent company with decent trainers you should not have any issues.

I never broke the law with my trainer in 8 weeks while i was out. He was very by the book in that regard. Now putting out trainees...my trainer told me they were told in their training never to do it because the company is still responsible for the trainee and they have to make sure they are safe....if my trainer dropped me at a Pilot in Phoenix and left me there and in my quest to get home I hitch a ride with an o/o and they have a wreck and im injured i can sue my trainer and company for negligance....now im not a lawyer but they company i work for is ran by several of them so im pretty sure im right....so if u get on with reputible company i wouldnt sweat it....good luck in school and training.

While you're in school get all the endorsements plus TWIC and a passport. If you plan to stay on the road most of the time, may as well make good money at the same time.

As for putting trainees out of the truck on the road; that's a good question to ask at orientation with the company you choose to go with. Ask what the policy is and write down the name of the person that told you the policy.

Start early on prehires....i had 11 before i even started school....from day 1 of class pretry much had my mind made up while others were stressing....i was excited too....this is my dream job....ive been out here about 15 weeks including training and not one day has gone by where i felt like i was at work....look at each day as a new adventure... in school and training u will make mistakes....i did....dont be like me and beat urself up....i thought i would be kicked off the truck for every gear i missed or curb i hit, but i wasnt....enjoy the process....it will suck at times and at times you will be nervous or scared....its ok....u should have seen me on day 5 of training when i had to drive the GW bridge into NYC....but I made it through....you will too
