Your probably right. But if the company decides to require it, its the drivers decision if it is worth the hassle of keeping their job.
This is not a new thing. I think IP can back me up on this thing, at one time It was a requirement for Prime company drivers. Its something that was required a few years back, why they decided to go lax on the newer people since? I don't know.
Maybe because of driver turnover, and lax enforcement the last few years it is such that they need to increase the hazmat pool of drivers.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
When I started in 2006, I was told that it was required. I never got it, and it was never enforced. -
So people have an issue with a policy that has been on the books since 2006 but now enforced???? OK.

Oh so Prime is experts in fingerprinting and what to do with them hu? They have a Prime Police Department also? Prime Homicide?
Let's all kneel down to prime. They and all companies can rough up drivers all they want with new rules and expenses on drivers trying to feed their families. But NO ONE can predict a wreck on ANY driver at ANY time. All it is, is a way to bring down our industry on the people that leave their families weeks on end to feed them. SOOOO SAD!!! When will all this end?

There aren't any new rules. The OP chose to not pay attention at orientation, and now is being asked to fulfill an obligation he took on as acceptance of a job offer. The only cost he has is to spend about $85 on the hazmat background and fingerprinting- he'll recoup that in two loads once he gets his endorsement. Oh yeah, and he needs to spend a day at home. BFD. Not only that, he's being offered credits through the company store to offset his costs.
I think you need to find a firm handle on reality.FLATBED, TruckinWithJosh and Sublime Thank this. -
Not one person said anything about prime requiring hazmat when I came here. my reality is I DONT WANT A HAZMAT ENDORSEMENT. Like I've said all along, I don't want to waste money on something I will never use just like the passport. Waste of money and time for me. But whatever on the matter, I've spoke my mind to my fm already on it and he knows. if it comes down to it I will be headwd for Springfield to turn this sardine can in. So that good sir is reality. I gotta firm hold on it.Bayle and toostroked Thank this.

Don't do anything drastic just yet. It will blow over. They will get enough people to get it. Wait till your really forced then worry about it. This time of year almost slowing down and i think they have nothing better to do than piss off drivers. Chilllllllll GL and stay safe. Happy Holidays.blairandgretchen Thanks this.

Not drastic, I just told my FM what was up. Push comes to shove, I know right off bout 4 places I could go the few next day after leaving prime. I always have options on the table for my benefit.
