That is true. Sorry, I thought you were another new driver complaining about short hrs, when there are plenty.
-
I think it's OK with a permit. I'll check my book. Also, there are designated routes that are OK.
-
Thanks for the visit last night. I just parked in Bloomsburg, PA.
625 miles today. So I'm prepared for possible bad weather tomorrow with a short day. Planning on getting to the Vince Lombardi service plaza by noon tomorrow. Had to request permission for that due to a toll right before the plaza.Bayle Thanks this. -

Nah. Just a new driver complaining about short miles. Done now.

Called dispatch and was told not to worry about it, they send 53 foot trailers in there all the time. I know I've done it before and there's plenty of other 53's in there.
They didn't give me directions though. However, I do have a nice handy dandy NYC truck route map that I got for free from the city of New York. It takes about 2 weeks, but they will mail one to you for free if you order one from their website. -
At the Vince Lombardi service plaza.
My GPS took a dump right before the service plaza exit. -
Be sure to write down the name of the person who told you that and the time of that call. If there are any problems you're going to need to know it. Rest assured they are going to run away from you if it goes bad.
The law says no 53'ers. The NYPD or NYDOT are not going to accept "we send 53'ers in there all the time quite so willingly as you did. If it were me my next comment would have been "are you telling me to violate the law?" Get that and their response on tape.
I never had to say that to any of my Roehl FM's but weekend staff several times tried to get me to "just go with it" when there were unlawful grey areas. That always shut them down. They won't say on tape that, that's what they are telling you to do even though it's exactly that.
I had great FM's at Roehl. Whenever there was a question about lawfulness, that settled the question. Not so much with after hours staff though. They want you to go with it because they've got 9 other calls waiting and they want to get rid of you.DsquareD, jeepnut_nh and technoroom Thank this. -
In NY now. Cons in Long Island area Monday . I have several low clearances on my route. I'm right at 13 foot high. Got one low showing 12-7. No help yet from Weekend FM.
