Hey guys, I'm sorry it's taking me this long. I ended up firing him. I got my truck, fuel card, logs and everything back. But he exploding and pushing me, almost hit me once but I ended up getting everything on camera. But I can't explain the feeling of knowing someone is stealing fuel one of our trucks.

I would suggest making some changes to your fuel card system and limits at least for new guys.

Did you call the cops and make a report?

I would have done that before firing him and then I would have them around when he was fired.

now it is assault, call the cops and add it to the list.

Hey Carguy i am glad to see you resolved this issue. I know these matters are very painful. My advice to you is get trackers in your trucks and limit your fuel cards. I went thru this twice with two different drivers. They get angry when caught. I always have a police officer present for legal purposes. Don't pay this monkey either. If you can subscribe to DAC then put it on his report. Your right to do that. You will get another decent, honest hard working driver. Learn from a bad experience. That will teach you how to protect yourself. Better days are ahead. Don't let this get you down.

I haven't driven trucks but when I drove charter buses we had CFN Fuel Cards for the Line Run (Dedicated) drivers and Comdata for the otr charter guys. You had to put in your vehicle number along with mileage. As well if you fueled twice in one day you needed to call the office and get authorization. I would recommend something along those lines. GPS tracking helps too if you can afford it. That way you can monitor and control fuel purchases and in a case like this if someone is driving 100 miles and suddenly needs another 100 gallon top off after they just filled both tanks then you know something ain't right. Sorry this happend to ya Carguy and I hope you at least pressed assault charges on this guy and left a nice one on his DAC.

With my company they let us get fuel once a day they told us to fill up every day and if our miles don't add up to 6mi+ a gallon we were getting a Qualcomm message i no when my trainer drove he got message but when i drove he always got good job message. I would do like everybody said limit fuel that a driver can get or get u something where they can fill up on yard before they leave. Its always one idiot messing it up for an honest driver

I don't condone employee theft, but there are always two sides to every story. I would love to hear what this driver was being cheated out of or perceived he was being cheated out of. I just left an employer that was a big cheat and crook, but Im not going to make any comments at the moment because of possible legal action I might take if I don't get my escrow money back...

I wonder, did the driver find out his employer was collecting detention money but telling the driver he wasn't able to collect? Was this driver not being paid for empty miles and it was getting too excessive? I can think of a million reasons why a disgruntled driver would sell fuel or tires off of his truck...
