Yeah, I'm good on the external, engine compartment and suspension, drive train and tandem axles. I just need time checking the air brake systems without interruption. Every time I try to run through it some instructor or upper class man comes along and steals the truck right out from under me. The nerve of some people.

I'm doing the outside stuff in my mind while driving my POV or during meals. I'll get it this week. Practice practice. -
sky dive what do you mean they steal the truck do they not let you have enough time ? and how much time do they give you to learn all this
-
Lots of drivers have time to kill while waiting at truck stops. If you are inclined, you might stop by and ask a driver, explaining that you are not getting enough up-close-truck-time in school and ask if he/she would not mind if you practiced your pretrip on their truck.
Drivers are often very friendly and will appreciate some person to person contact after endless hours on the road.
Mikeeeesilverdrifter and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
Thanks for the tip there Mikeeee, great advice. I just happened to have chosen the wrong equipment a number of times. There really is ample time and equipment to get 'r dun. I've got all week to work on this and do some backing too.
Silver, don't get excited.... there is plenty of time to learn it. Upper classmen help and it really isn't rocket science, especially if you are or have ever been a gear head like me and can identify engine components and suspension parts. If you know what a leaf spring and an alternator look like you're there!Pmracing Thanks this. -
Incidentally, we drove into a truck stop on I85 last week and I introduced myself to a couple of drivers. As you stated I found them to be very frien dly and eager to share their knowledge. It was awesome as he!!.
Pmracing Thanks this. -
well the few truck drivers I have spoken to at truck stop in the past told me if I was smart I wouldn't be a truck driver lol
Pmracing Thanks this. -
I often go by my school i got ky cdl from i think its cool just to see their faces when they ask questions then they want to get up in your truck to see how its set up the usual questions how many miles, how often do i get home , etc
