Oh Lord, all those accidents! So scary. We have been on the PA Turnpike where that happened, as a matter of fact we were there over Thanksgiving, driving in that big winter storm, it was not fun either. We hope all of you, and us too, stay safe in these winter conditions. I can't believe that our load of pigs feet is so important that it requires us to risk our lives to make the delivery time, nor is anyone's load. Stay safe you all!

Don't believe that for a minute, It is all about the customer getting there stuff on time, It has nothing to do with what the load actually is. I hope you guys stay safe and keep us informed! These trucking companies have an on time rating meaning that it doesn't matter what the god given circumstance is that the load will be there or there will be a review of why the load didn't make it! then that carrier either moves up the pecking order or down, down is not good on this scale it means they get called less, I was involved in this same situation in my other career, It is a really bad system but then again it is what it is.

As it turns out...I may have been caught up in that incident after all. I was inspecting the trailer in the daylight and found my right rear mudflap (right in front of the dot bumper) had the outside edge chewed up, and my right rear marker light lens was smashed. I didn't see any other damage, so it may have been just debris from the car as the front end disintegrated. Whew! I do hope the occupant (s) of the vehicle are ok. I also called and spoke with Lisa Radford @ JCT (she handles accidents and claims). I had her take a report. ..in case someone contacts JCT regarding t he incident. Good thing I can prove I called 911 and the State Police too, just in case.

I saw about 4 of them in Hagerstown within about a 1/2 mile to a mile apart. It was a mess thru WV and Md.

Smart move letting Lisa know what you found. Glad to see you made through relatively unscathed.

You think safety will have anything to say about your narrow escape?

Waiting to see what our safety will say about mine, especially with the spycam. I don't think they can rule it as preventable but you never know. I used to work with a guy who was stopped in traffic and got rearended and the company called it preventable.
