    Hi,
I've been following the Prime forum for some time and wonder how much tanker work goes though Savannah?
I've followed GunMetals thread but he doesn't mention being there much.

I'm pretty much set at starting training at Greenville Technical College regardless, but have not entirely ruled out Prime's training.

I'm located right off 95 Exit 8 in SC and the Savannah tank wash is app. 20mins away.

I'm interested in pretty much the same question, only with reefer or flat bed (still haven't decided!)

Check out CTL Transportation. In another thread you asked about flatbed. Both CTL (tanker division) and CT (flatbed division) are under the umbrella of Comcar Industries. CTL shares the terminal with CT in Port Wentworth (just west of Savannah) on Grange Road off of Hwy 21 (exit 109, I-95 in Georgia). Both tanker & flatbed divisions use Mack trucks with automatic transmissions.

If you decide to go with CT for flatbed, your orientation will be a week in Savannah. If you decide to go with CTL for tanker, your orientation will take place at their corporate office in Mulberry, FL for a week then they will send you back home and your training will take place out of the Savannah terminal.

If you have any questions about my experience, just send me a PM. BTW, I wasn't there long with CTL. I was also a newbie with a CDL and although I love driving trucks with automatic transmissions, hazmat tanker just wasn't my cup of tea. The staff will treat you nice so no worries there.

Comcar has other divisions as well other than CTL & CT. Call one of their recruiters and ask about reefer. They have other divisions such as MCT / WSE / CCC. I'm not sure which one, but one of those divisions runs lots of reefers.

Prime owns the tank wash in Savannah(Savannah Kleen). They keep clean tanks there and shuttle them over to a nearby shipper in port wentworth to be loaded. They do a decent amount of work out of there but I don't know of anything local or dedicated, all of the loads I picked up from Savannah went up to the northeast.

    silver_back Thanks this.
