I searched the forums and found a thread from 5 years ago about starter companies with automatic trucks. Times change. Any updated info about starter companies with automatic trucks preferably for dry van? I already know about Comcar (CT/CTL) having automatic trucks but I'm not interested in flatbed or tanker.

I'm a newbie that's already been with two companies in the last 3 months, I'm really hoping the 3rd time is a charm....

I think almost all of the megas are running autos now. Your biggest problem is going to be getting hired having gone through two jobs already. It costs a lot of money to hire a new driver, and most companies won't take the risk of spending the money to hire a driver that will only quit.
I suggest if you do get hired again, you stick it out for at least a year, no matter how bad it is, so you can show you have what it takes.
For that reason, I would suggest staying away from some of the companies with the worse reviews, such as C.R. England. No sense using what may well be your last chance on a bad company.

2 companies in 3 months! If you are lucky enough to get hired again, you need to stick it out. Another short term job and you might be just about untouchable

I'm pretty sure Carter Express runs mostly automatics. They have terminals in Indiana (Headquarters), Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Ohio, and Michigan. Also it's a mid sized operation so might be a better fit for you. I will be working for them after my training is through in about a month. I've heard good things so far. Hope this helps.

thanks for the advice. I think I might need to reevaluate my choices and leave trucking alone for a long while. I will keep my class A license because I worked really hard to earn them.

Make sure you have your DOT physical card info submitted to your state DMV, or in February, your class A will be removed from your license. I don't know the process in your state, but in Florida you can self certify online. I imagine other states have that ability too, but you'll have to check.
Here's a link to the regs in case you want to see what I'm talking about; http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration-licensing/cdl/faqs.aspx

I believe Windy Hill in Marshfield, WI has automatics. They had a recruiter come to my CDL class back in 2009. I think they use paper logs too and are pretty loose with their requirements. They are a nursery and mainly run Wisconsin to Florida and back with lots of stops.
