    Hi everyone,
My hubby just ended his 9 month contract with CREngland, and is on his way to orientation for a better paying job, ( more than double of what he was making at CREngland)!! anyhow, he was otr with CFEngland, and came home maybe a hand full of times if even that in 9 months time.
He would like to be home a little more...so we are coming here to find out the truth from the people who know "THE TRUCKERS" THEMSELVES! :)

So, can you please write to us and let us know what the truth is about otr, dedicated, and regional and the pay that goes with each one....my hubby feels that he won't make better money doing otr as opposed to regional or dedicated, I on the other hand think otr is the way to go, if money matters?? please help us settle this difference once and for all lol

thank you to those of you who can help us fill in the blanks here :)
    have a happy day

    doxy

Some companies like Schneider will hire only regional. This way he can get home every weekend.

Prime hires regional and if you are leasing the truck and you have a load near home, you can decide if you want the home time ( with in reason ).

I should also point out, there are alot of companies that feel hometime is a wasted thing in their mindset.

Regional is a good idea, good luck in finding something.

I almost went with Crete a while back ...but as it turns out they dropped their regional boards.

Probably too much trouble for them if you get right down to it.

Depends on the type of trucking. Regional pay very well with logistics or dedicated accounts. Of course some of those dedicated accounts aren't worth it, such as Dollar General where the driver unloads. Too many variables to give you an accurate answer.

I'm a dedicated local driver I'm home every night. The pay is equal to a otr driving, but the down fall I do work most people don't like. I fingerprint freight to grocery stores. There are gigs like mine but it is going to be doing something most people don't like to do.

Fingerprinting is where you the driver have to break down the pallets for the stores. Some of my store you just unload their pallets into the freezer and leave, but some have to be fingerprinted.
