I would not put it "VOLVO TRYING TO KEEP THE MACK NAME ALIVE"
Simply this is how times are now, companies need to merge to stay alive and be competitive.

I miss our old Mack vision 460. Even though she heated up on the mountainside, it was a really comfortable truck. They took it off me when it hit 700,000.

It's all we ever used in our company we still have 2 B62 squares we use to plow the yard. b4 we went out of bussiness we had an 82 R model we used every day. Also had 2 super liners(the first and original hot rods) that we still used one of them with 800,000 and not easy miles local shingle deliveries and still heavy permitted as of last year. I was last in an 05 CH613 DAy and it was real nice rode nice and pulled well. It was an ols school thing with all the old timers to have macks and it just stuck with us. Truth is we never really had to fix them, just run the crap out them keep em dirty and that dog was always your best friend.
My old friend ran an 82 cabover straight 5 speed for a certain brownie company down the street and as of last year that truck was still making the trip from mass to somewhere past the poconos.. God I have alot of Mack history, it's all I have driven in almost 20 years. Till the past 6 months am in internationals now for a certain huge grocerie store.. They are nice but ride like pigs compaired to the Mack and are wimpy.SuperLiner Thanks this. -
In the early to late 90's, I was in a couple Mack CH613 standup sleepers. They all had a E427 & super 10.
Despite having to do little things to make 'em livable, I really liked driving them.
I figured out how to insulate them better for climate control & noise. I then figured out how to make 'em ride so I could sleep while the ex looked for all the bad spots across La's I10-12.
A very good truck...even if it still took 40 acres to turn it around. -
Check out these photos of the 2 macks we drove.

I could easily live with that first truck.
If it has the Mack rears & straight ten, you'll never hurt those.
Plus, I never had any real trouble with a Mack motor.
I know others that had problems with the Vision's motor.
I think those were 460's?
My E427's never faultered. -
460's Yep they were mack rears and 13's too. Both trucks had the 80 inch sleepers as well. The brown one had a mack tranny as well, a little diferent than the fuller but both were 13's took some getting used too the mack tranny, a little finicky when shifting it.

that red one got sold for a rediculously low price of like 35 K. If I had the money at the time I woulda jumped on that as it only had like 350 K on it and it was immaculent inside and out.
-
$35k? Wow! I woulda' gone for it just to drive it to my day job.

Then I woulda' leased it on with someone & quit my day job.
That's a lucky person who got that truck.
He'll be making money with that one. -
My last truck was a Mack. Believe me they have come a long way from the "R" and "F" models that most people relate the name to. The ride is second to none and the room in them are exceptinally good. The interior is very driver friendly and they look (imo) as good if not better than some of the other models out there. There is a company just west of Dayton,Oh. that uses them as well as several others. Mine was very dependable and the cost of repair was'nt that much different than repairing any of the other trucks I have or had. I think Mack has done a great job with their development program. I hated to see them sell out to Volvo which I think is WAY over rated. Just remember this is just my opinion.
