I was wondering if there was anyone on here who has lower back problems once in awhile and are there any remedies to fix it or atleast make some of the spasms stop. I have been in the DFW area the last couple of days dealing with the ice and my lower back has really been bothering me. I am not sure if its the cold, sitting around waiting for the ice to thaw, my mattress in the SB, or just getting old.
I tried using a heat pack but that didn't help. Also took 3 Aleves and nada. If I walk around for awhile it seems to help a little but as soon as I sit or lay down I start getting some painful spasms. When I drive any bump in the road sends a current of pain right up my back. Thanks in advance for any advice!

How much do they usually charge? I wonder if my health insurance would cover it?

Ever been to a doctor?
My wife made me go a while back..LOL
Come to find out I have one leg slightly longer than the other.
Got new Shoes and put one insole in one of the Shoes and it helped me quite a bit.
<edit>
My symptoms were similar to yours...
Would come and stay for a few weeks to up to and over a month..
Walking would make it quite a bit better and going from a laying position to sitting up and getting up from sitting would be very painful.
And eventually it always went away and come back again.
No telling what your problem is but it won't hurt to go. -
Same problem here. Pinched nerve in lower back. Usually the intervertebral discs between the vertebrae may be worn or compressed due to heavy lifting or manual labor. A lumbar support belt can help. Wear it while driving or working. The only other alternative is surgery which many times leaves you worse off than before.
One other contributing factor to back pain with truckers is keeping the wallet in the back pocket while sitting or driving. It forces the spine to curve. If this is your problem, then you lucked out on a cure; remove the wallet!CondoCruiser and Dewey120 Thank this. -
That is funny you should mention that. I bought a new pair of jeans lately and the left leg is longer than the right so maybe its not the jeans. Back when I was in high school I messed up my back trying to power clean to much weight. The doctor gave me some muscle relaxers that worked great. After about two weeks the spasms stopped. That was about 16 years ago but the pain reminds me of what I was feeling back then.

I just put up with it over the years..as I'm getting older it's been getting worse.
And back in my 20s I worked at a A/C Compressor Factory..and picked up a lot of them by Hand they were anywhere from 40-100+ lbs.
Always just figured it was what messed up my back..well it certainly didn't help that's for sure.
Last year my back literally hurt for several months from like June to Sept
Some days it was manageable, other days not even sure how I kept working. -
Three suggestions for you.
First, don't leave your wallet in your back pocket while you're driving.
Second, roll up a towel and put it against your lower back when you're in the drivers seat. Or, you can use a pair of socks rolled up if that works. Another thing that may work is to place a can of Windex or similar size can between your lower back and the seat. Place the item from side to side, not up and down. These ideas always gave me immediate relief.
Third, when you sleep, lay on your side and keep a pillow between your knees. That helps to put your tail bone in a more natural position.
I hope these ideas work for you. -
Speaking of difference of legs length, my chiropractor did an adjustment and fixed it. I was slightly limping and easily would loose balance, along with stiff nick and back pain, since then i go twice a year for minor adjustment and dont regret it all
Dewey120 Thanks this.
