Is Halliburton really that bad? After the new year changes over I'm heading to Texas. As far as starting companies where does Halliburton rank? Do other companies offer cdl training? What is their average hourly/yearly salary?

I would say average hourly for Halliburton from all the guys I know would be about 13.50. Lots of better choices out there and most frac companies will help you get your cdl depending on their own situation and how badly they need hands.

I had plans on starting cdl school next week here in NYC. Only 10 lessons though. Which other companies train guys? Trying to weigh my options before shelling out $2200 for these lessons.

Cj energy, archer I know for sure. Pumpco, frac tech, weatherford and a few others do sometimes and would all be better choices in my opinion. All you need for a frac job is your cdl. They don't care about schooling or anything else. There's lots of guys I've known that got there license on their own and got jobs in frac.

Have you thought about trying to get a job closer to home like Pa or Ohio?

Alot of people ask why I don't look closer to home. Im honestly tired of long stretches of cold weather. Im 29 and have lived in NYC my entire life. It would be a change of pace for me personally, and the cost of living is a draw as well.

It has been mentioned in a couple of threads that Schlumberger starts all their new frac hands nationwide through SOS Employment Services. In Western CO I ran alot of water to their frac ops and the hands said after probation period you usually got sent to a driving school to obtain a CDL before they hired you as a regular employee. SOS is a national employment agency---give them a try.

Two tips and some facts that I'm giving yah.

Look for Elmendorf TX for Frac with Big Red they are booked out for jobs over 1 year. They are that busy...

Weigh the benefits that might make or break the situation. Not Health and Dental stuff. Look at Guaranteed pay; Retirement Payments (Not Match) ie at the end of the year besides the match they kick you another 5%. If your interested in Cement Apply for Pampa TX and if you got a CDL PM me =D NOW!!!

But each situation is really what you make of it; and I've only been in the business now for 2 years and with the same company so my outlook is different then others with more experience.

The difference for me is this, I came here with a plan; and its working to perfection. I also paid for my own cdl, and the only thing I lacked was experience. I can now say I have met those requirements also.
Stage two of the plan is set for launch and I will make 2014 a better year with any luck. I recommend you just make sure you have a plan, and some goals in mind; and Stick with that; and I would say you will get to where you want to be.

I have squeaky clean CDL A with XT endorsements ... I have Zero points and Zero suspensions and have big truck driving experience for the past 10 years ... the weekly pay you stated in your message is what caught my attention ... I could never make that kind of money driving trucks around Dayton Ohio and with no oilfield experience I am sunk ... You mentioned in your post to message you for a connection to a sand hauling gig in San Antonio but this board won't let me PM anyone except Board Members for now until I get 7 points ? or something ... I have belly and end dump trailer experience but no Frac water or sand hauling experience ... please message me back with the company information I can apply to ... Thanks driver ...
