Thanks for the feedback so far, to fill in a couple of blanks, no permits required, this is normal operating weight for this configuration. Excellent potential for repeat business from this customer, and , very important consideration, they have had a couple competitors doing the same run from time to time.
Whats a fair rate?

SO,,, If it was 400 loads would you then do the work at a rate that doesn't cover your operating expense ?
It doesn't matter if it is one load or 4 million loads. You have to make the numbers work!!!
There will ALWAYS be people who will work cheaper, they just won't be your competition for long.blacklabel and 7.3 cowboy Thank this. -
You have no idea what profit is or do they give away free trucks and trailers In Canada? I try not to pull for $2.75 with a 5 axle step, and if I do it better be light. Sure, volume will get you a discount, but this guy wants to still be in business the next time they come calling.barnmonkey Thanks this.

5 bucks a mile for a5 axle rig sound delusional to me I'm guessing he's hauling bulk by the ton he needs to figure out his cost then quote. by the axle he's gonna wait a while for a load
-
$900 per load.1 load or 100 loads ...$900 is your discount which is reasonable within that market.
i hope its thru a Broker too........make them pay some money already -
I said a dollar an axle a loaded mile. For a 5 axle rig returning empty that would work out to $2.50 a running mile which I don't consider out of reason.
-
I am getting quotes on moving a big load for a customer and everything I am getting is at least a dollar per mile per axle and we need a 9 axle set up for this.
-
So you make enough to buy a new truck and trailer off of 20 days worth of work. Wow everyone in this industry should come work for you, you have it figured out.
-
I do not recall saying anything about not covering your cost, I suggested 2.75 per mile loaded and empty, a little bit smaller profit margin repeated many times over will net you more in the long run than over charging and being the guy they only call in a pinch. Again that is my opinion and it does not make anyone else's opinions wrong it just makes them different opinions which is what the OP is after I belive.

You have no concept of this business, or business in general as evidenced in this post and some of your previous posts. Everything has a cost, and that has to be factored into your rates. If not, you will not be around long. Once again, $2.75 is cheap for a 5 axle step running short miles, mush less a specialized trailer.7.3 cowboy Thanks this.
