When i get my own trailer, I was gonna put a big "YOU'RE AD HERE" sign and web address to see if there was any interest. I had a few concerns thinking about doing this myself. If you have a 102" trailer that doesn't leave much room for lights not to mention the legal requirements on a street vehicle. Visibility would be poor while parked so the ad is really only being used 11 or less hours a day and less if you drive night hours. Bill boards are pretty cheap and stay lit 24/7. they also target certain areas where trucks target is unpredictable. Depending on the ad, it may turn away some business. Lowes wouldn't want you hauling freight for them in a trailer that advertizes home depot. Even a "Cracker Jack" ad as mentioned by the other poster might prevent you from hauling other competitive snacks. I mean, when i get my own trailer I'll give it a try, but my hopes are pretty low of getting a well paying contract. Also, who pays for the damage to the sign if your truck gets in an accident. All of these are things to consider in advertizing.

That being said, if I can attract a advertiser that's name wont cost me freight, with a national brand, that doesn't mind not being seen at night, I would go for it.

The other factor is, could that ad space benifit your trucking company more then you would get in ad proceeds?

I always thought that was funny to. He's driving a brand new 150,000 truck with a 30,000 trailer. His paycheck sure doesn't show he is a more valuable asset then the truck and trailer. Now of they mean, they make the most money from that asset, that might be true.

Most of them I see are related to trucking products like Long Haul has a few, one being for Bully Dog. It's not a new idea by any means, but most companies aren't willing to risk their public image in that regard to the whim of some truck driver. Just look at the views the wrecked Wienermobile got last week. I'm sure Oscar Mayer loved that! A properly based stationary billboard will have more and better views than a trailer mounted one. If not, we would look like a Nascar rolling down the highway.
