OP I think you should at least ask your company to route you to the West to give it a try. In my experience runs in the West have more miles per load and many of them are multi-day runs. You can get more miles per day than running in the East. Less traffic, wide open freeways, and more places you can pull over to rest without hassle.

In the winter the best place to run is I-40 and south of I-40, avoiding the big blizzards up in the Utah to Kansas corridor. If you can connect some loads from California to the southern states, that makes for some long runs in generally much better weather. That section WILL have issues with winds from Arizona through Texas on occasion.

Generally speaking you will also find that docks are easier to get in and out of in the West, with newer warehouses and roads than in the East.

Running west separates the boys from men. There are no steering wheel holders out here brother.

Sure there are. The West is covered in Steering Wheel Holders. Many of the megas are based in the West.

Yes there is. Wanna find the truck drivers? They are the ones not hiding out when chain law is up or the ones not crying about NYC. When you see a hand out there with a Tshirt and a set of chains in both hands, that's me. And I'm not putting yours on for you!
