I'd say all th people who have control over what they do or don't do don't move untill they get offered good freight rates. It wouldn't take long for shippers not being able to get there freight moved before they start paying. The company guys can just o a slowdown to 45mph and congest the heck out of the interstate and all around P.O. the people.

I expected to wake up this morning and find that something had already started. but i guess i cant be suprised. thats why i dont and wont be the first to shut it down. Generaly i like to follow the old adage of Lead, follow or get out of the way, i like to lead.

how ever in this scenario, i see visions of me sitting on side of the road, for days and no one stopping to join in, .. thats trucking i guess. in this scenario, i would just waste my time, and look the fool.

one cant blame this on our current president either. this is all OPEC to blame. we all let them get as powerful as they are. its our fault.
ironically, as long as my loads dont go below $1.95 at the least a mile i will keep on rolling. any less than that i will just go fishing.

last night i figured a brotherhood would have came together. this morning, i see what i always see., drivers afraid of their own shadows, and greed abound. most of you wouldnt even stop for 5 minutes out of your busy day to help a stranded motorist. and 95 percent of you wouldnt even dream of slowing it down to 50 mph for 3 days to get your point across either.

as i said before, if others organized and shut em down. i would be right with them. but in this i will not lead, as i dont haul cheap freight, its really no skin off my back. we own 3 trucks out there on the road. we dont over rev, we dont speed, we dont idle unless its extremely cold. we make savings when we can, and we are still going strong. even in california the other day, with the states "no idle" rule in effect, i walk through the parking lot at the J in barstow, and every single truck is idling. there wa sno need to do so. we stayed there for te night and opend the windows and side doors on sleeper and was right nice and comfortable.

My point is, all you truckers now days dont care about anything except yourself. you #####y and moan about every little thing out there. you let your companies push you around to the breaking point. and ther eis n brotherhood. them days are gone, and always will be. i dont see trucks as ever making a difference again. the days of the " white Knight" are over with, left with our grandfathers of old.

i hope even one of you can prove me wrong, actually i pray for it. i challenge you to do it.

    Rokk,

The problem isn't who, but when and how. I racked my brain all night long for an effective way to communicate a date and time to do this so that every trucker in the country is aware and able to participate in this display of disgust over shipping rates not keeping up with the cost of operations.

If you have a solution, please, by all means, suggest it.

How do you suggest that we unite over a million truckers? How do you suggest that we get the word out to them?

    my point is..

you cant unite a million truckers, not in this day and time. trucking industry is all about greed now, our nation is not able to do a thing about the cost of fuel.

you know what "i" can do to protest the high cost of fuel, food and gas?
I can park this truck, i can not move it again, it will sit in the driveway and collect dust, but all the kids will "oohh and ahh" and want to get in it on their way home from school. much like the old train engine at the park.

thats will make it all worth it.

i will always keep my cdl current. for my own reasons. but i dont need to be in the midst of all the greed and filth that is trucking.

Trucker will never unite. one or two will. hell i would have joined in with everone. i would have taken this flatbed deck and made it a stage to tell the issues as they are.

instead its just easier to quit. move on to something dfferent. I know there is 27 horses out here that need ridden, cared for, and lots of mountains country to explore that i have neglected over the years since getting into trucking. i dont need the job, never did, just wanted the adventure of it.

if and when truckers do unite, i will fire up this rig, and roll it down to the meeting en masse. and join in the fun. until then, i say deliver this load and bounce it n to the house. park it, and let it rust.

thats my solution, i know theres a big ole rainbow trout sitting in the pond. waiting for my hook. i think its time to get back out there.

    thats my solution.

hell i would have loved to have box car wllie up on the deck preachin to the assembley, hell even better if he shared some of his stash with the crowd, but greed is in the air. and that undercuts the air i wanted to breathe of turbos and diesel engines.

There's one less Trucker to kick around now.. I'm hanging up my spurs and selling my truck. I'm 39 years old so I still have time to start something new, and that will be FAR away from the trucking industry. I have had a belly full of the high fuel, high taxes and nonexistent profits. here in Oregon the freight rates are disgustingly low.. 1.05-1.50 if your lucky.. I had some really good shippers I worked with regularly but the "Recession" Bush says we're not in has wiped them out. Consider me a one mane strike force!

I think that if all trucks had AP units it would have a huge impact on fuel use, therefore in theory lowering consumption would stabalize prices. There should be some kind of tax relief for initial costs for unit prices. A ceiling on fuel prices could at least make the industry more predictable than it is today. The issues facing trucking are greatly in need of attention, and a shutdown could lead to public attention if the demands were attainable.

APU units are not going to solve the problem.

This is not an addiction issue, nor a consumption issue. its all about money now. and everyone knows that "Money is God" afterall, it does say on every bill and coin, "In god we trust" therefore money is god. and only big oil is making the money now, therefore they are god.

you will do nothing by parking on side of road. it has to be in D.C. and only in d.c. will it take notice and have an impact.

the truck industry will never unite, and you all know it. too many you know whats out there. i HAVE BEEN REPRIMANDED BY MODS for stating my true feelings on the matter.

its easier for me to hang up the truck, and move on, i also am only 39 years old, and have another business to run that could use my full attentions anyway.

the "king of the road" mentality is pointless these days. soon trucks will not even need a driver to drive them. so then where will you all be.

i am thinking i wll go learn to be a pilot of the next "space shuttle" thats where the big money is at. :)

so long trucking world, once this load delivers, i am bouncing it home. my sports car siting in the driveway has a 12 gallon tank and 32 mpg. i will take that over 300 gallon capacity anyday. pure driving excitement compared to bouncing aorund this nations highways in a big truck. u bet ya.

Ok, now thats not fair. I simply asked you to leave out the racist comments in your posts, so that we don't have to stain the image of the industry. Drivers get a bad enough reputation the way it is, with the bad apples out there that don't shower, log illegal and so on. Do we really need racism in this discussion?

I'm leaving the previous post up to you to edit, but I think some of the other members here will completely agree, that its not a great way to represent our feelings. :biggrin_25513:
