Stupid Question - Toolbox Mounting

Revival of an oldie. There's a box system I saw not to long ago that requires no drilling of the frame. It's a hook and bolt on system so you can mount it securely without drilling the frame and when your ready to get a new truck, you can just unbolt the boxes and keep them for your next truck. only takes about 10-15 minutes to install and can be mounted or moved around if needed just in case you don't like the first location you placed it. I'll have to look around and see if I can find a website.

Chassis grabber is what it's called. Looks to be pretty sturdy and fairly cheap.

 

Paying 79.50 each to keep from drilling is rediculous. Just drill the stinking holes and be done with it. I had to drill new 4 new holes for my mud flaps(5/8). Drilled 3/8 hole and used a reamer to enlarge to 5/8. Drilled the 3/8 with my M12 drill using Rotella and slow speed and steady pressure. Took about 45 min total. Granted I already had the drill bits and reamer but those can be purchased for less than $79, and then you have them for another use.

 

Those clamp brackets do work very well, but unless you are planning to move boxes between different trucks regularly or need to mount different types of stuff on the rails and need to change them out frequently, it is not worth the cost. They are a special application type of item. If one is wanting to mount a box and keep it there for the duration of the truck, just drill the frame.

 

I know this is old but... lots of people search the internet and if you’ve found yourself here wondering if you can drill your frame when it says on a sticker don’t drill the frame... yes you can. THEY MEAN THE TOP AND BOTTOM RAIL. You can drill the sides all day long, just keep the holes to a minimum for obvious reasons. The flange is the top and bottom, not the sides.
