    Supply and demand my friend
Big buyers get better prices than grandma on Sunday LOL
I keep saying it but we need a free economy for this to work
Thats why a strike or a day of vacation for a majority of truckers could work
The bigger problem is the market is dictating the fuel prices
I hate to say it but a real (hopefully small) recession is the only thing other than previously stated ways for the price to tumble
Bronco rider is right less demand will push the price up

The problem is a bunch of truckers holding their breath till they are blue in the face will not change supply or futures markets much

Regulating or new laws will not work, a nightmare in the works.

All we can do is speed up the slow down of the economy, thus lower crude prices

Thanks. I agree I want to keep the gooberment as far out of my business as possible.
I dont agree with fuel regulatons either since I remember the fiasco this caused in the 70's.
As to the shipping tax don't you think this would be subject to the same kind of abuse the FSC is recieving. One poster stated that their out-haul had a $.43 FSC but when they went to broker a load back they got only $.20 FSC. I'm afraid the same would happen with a shipping tax. Thoughts?

Its on the bottom of the first page

What are we going to do about the fuel prices and the transportation industry. The shippers and brokers are unregulated as to what shipping rates should be. Therefore now that the fuel has increased to an all-time high, trucks are shutting down and/or small company's are going bankrupt daily now (a sight that no one knows about except for those in the industry) because the shipping rates are not going up to help compensate for the cost of operating. If anything shipping rates are falling because company's are taking what ever they can get to try to keep from going bankrupt (this has been going on for a while) the trucking industry is failing due to no regulations to establish rates. If the trucks cant afford to operate and supply America with their important and much needed freight, then America stops, something needs to happen soon, everyone including owner operators, small business owners, large fleets, and independents are talking on the road and in trucking forums and news stating that if fuel goes any higher they wont make it and they will have to shut down, if not already shutdown. This is because shippers and brokers(the middle man working with shippers to find trucks) are not regulated on rates. They are not giving rates that are compromising for the increase in fuel and operating costs. I cannot stress enough about what will happen here shortly about trucks stopping. AMERICA will stop too! Our Nation will crumble shortly if we don't do something to regulate shipping rates that follow fuel costs!!

Strike, stoppage or nothing at all.... BAsically I think it's gone far enough that we are headed for change either way since once all the owners are out of business something has to change. Guess swift will pick up all the work. :biggrin_25513:
