Welcome.to the "Real" world of truck driving. It is often stated the first year is the hardest and if you.make it through that first year blah blah blah... These are the things that make that first year hard. Glad to hear that in the end the only damage is maybe a bruised ego. Good recovery driver.

    Good job driver,

no damage to anything but your ego. No pictures of you trying to turn around, and jacked up. Your experience with the local police will vary... some will help, some will not.

Well Oltistop has been interesting this trip. First on as it turns out was on the east bound side of PA turnpike... I was heading west, west bound side is out of jetwork. 2nd stop may actually have had the worlds stupidest person working at the fuel desk. One of the Independent AMBest stops.

Card reader is down, so I go in. She wants the DOT number, I tell her she won't need it, she insisted she doe. I go out and get it, because frankly I don't know it since we never use it. She swipes Tue card puts all the information in and says "I guess I didn't need the DOT number after all... I ask her if she put me in for Truck DEF and Reefer. She says no just truck, I said I need all three. She cancels sale and re does it... still doesn't need the DOT number, I go out and pump truck, DEF won't start, I go back in, she closes out that sale then reruns the card with reefer and DEF, so now I have to get reefer first, then back up to get DEF, while this is going on another Stevens truck pulls up, so of course when I go in to finalize the sale, she swipes the other drivers card for my sale and it obviously rejects it, it also apparently locked out the sale and the register, she had to call for a manual authorization, got it, wrote it on a piece of paper, then lost that while trying to manually put it back in the system... meanwhile, the fuel Island is at a standstill because this is the only register that can process those transactions and it is tied up with mine.

    57 minute fuel stop...

    Welcome back to the road.

Well I'm fit to be tied!
Last friday I needed to reach my DM. I don't speak with him a lot unless he calls me. I joke with him on how I'm his lowest maintenance driver on his fleet.
I couldn't reach him. Every time I tried I got a different DM. After 5 calls, I gave up and made my own decision (which turned out to be not so good). But I never could reach him.
Today I tried to call in and couldn't get thru the phones, so finally I used my ace and called my 'insider' on his cell.
I nearly didn't recognize him, his voice was so stressed.
Now keep in mind we've known each other more than 60 years, so we know each other.
I got what I needed, but then called him tonight at home.
One of the problems is some bright idiot at Stevens decided to 'improve' the drivers' access to their DM's.
Seems previous to this past week, each DM had 3 lines into his phone. If you called and he/she was on the phone, it would ring thru and if he didn't answer it, it went to VM. But now they each have ONE LINE!
    That's right!
But wait! it gets even better!
If that line is busy, you don't get voice mail, it hunts to another random DM who is not on their phone and rings thru to them!
They can't transfer you to your DM because he's on the phone!
So every time you call, you get a different DM.
What kind of crap is that!?
    But wait...it gets better!
If all the DM's are on their phones, it sends you to the night que!
If it's before 1400, there's no one monitoring the night que and you can be stuck on hold until someone logs in later that day!
How often does that happen you ask? Well, apparently quite often.
What is wrong with the morons at this company? I'm going out of my mind over this one!
I spoke at length with my 'insider' and he's beyond upset. The stress on the crew this weekend was evident. I don't know if any of you felt it, but I decided to send an email to Angela. After all, the O/O and contractor division falls under her.
so if any of you are finding this repugnat crap beyond reason, send your thoughts to: ahorowitz@stevenstransport.com
    or caaron@stevenstransport.com.
    This is just plain stupid.
And if it doesn't get fixed, I may be fishing in retirement with my buddy from the worthless night and weekend crew.

KMac, DDC and flue Thank this.

Maxwelltie, you know the 'real' reason behind the new 'improvements' is $$$$. It was costing the company for the additional lines, so by eliminating 2 lines per DM they are saving big $$$. They have never cared about communication with the drivers & never will, it's all about the bottom line and THEIR pocketbooks.

I hope that all Stevens drivers and their families have an enjoyable Christmas! If you have to be under a load, hope you can at least get a Christmas dinner out there!
