This was directed to A-dog and his problem, sorry. Also when it does not start, give it a shot of ether and try. if it starts on just 1 puff, indicates TRS sensor.
-
I replaced the back check valve on return line on back of head and truck still won't start. My mechanic found a fuse to the ECM that keeps blowing. Currently trying to walk down that short.
-
Have you found that short yet? If a Volvo, check wires from port side battery box to computer and main wire harness. I found my short in a rubbed wire next to air tank mounts.
-
No success. Replaced fuel pump, check valve on return line, and sensors. My local mechanic shop traced the wire from blowing fuse and repaired but no success. Truck just occasionally will start up when it wants. Once running its perfect until shut off day or so. So last time the shop got it running I just took it to a bigger shop in Baltimore called Johnson Towers. I anticipate a call from them tomorrow. My loyal guy is convinced it's a electrical issue possibly a shorted wire to Ecm not letting injectors spray fuel.baha Thanks this.

New update. Final conclusion is the Ecm is bad. They put in a test Ecm and truck started up fine. They were unable to communicate with the Ecm. Hopefully I'll be back to work tomorrow.

Sounds right then. Good luck on a permanent fix. Down time costs money.

Just to add my experience to this thread -
I have a 2001 S60 which after a 10 hour break would not start the next morning. It took a shot of ether to start-up. The engine would start normally only if it was not shut down too long. No flash codes.
Even thou I did not have a prime issue I did clean out the Davco check ball which did have crud in the valve which made no difference.
I did replace both TRS and the SRS which did take care of the issue.
To install the SRS, unless you have a small hand, I used an extension magnet and the wrench extension to guide the sensor into the hole. You'll also want to coat the o-ring and shaft with some oil. Torque for both is between 22 to 28 ft-lbs. It took me 2 hours to remove and replace both sensors which included spending some time on the TRS using a screwdriver and a chisel to drive out the old sensor and to fish out the old SRS which dropped between the block and compressor when removing. -
An update to my previous post -
Replacing the TRS and SRS seemed to have taken care of the "no start" issue after sitting for about 2 hours up to about 10 hours. After sitting longer then for about 10 hours "no start". All S60's has a return line check valve connecting from behind the cylinder head. My Davco unit did not lose prime. The Davco check valve is for the feed line, not the return line. The location of the return line check valve was about 2 feet down stream from the head on the driver's side giving me very limited space to remove. After disconnecting the line from the Davco I was able to push the line to the passenger side and in doing so allowed me to easily remove and replace the check valve. I replaced that section of the fuel hose as well.
After having to use ether to start the engine to get the fuel through the system the engine now starts like it should after sitting.
