I have found a trucking company I like, but I want to know you all's thoughts. What is the thing you really want? Most people say they want money, but wouldn't you give up some money on your Gross Annual Income for some security, home-time, or respect?
I realize that all those things probably don't exist in any one place, but I have to assume I'm not the only one that is willing to sacrifice pay for a life I can handle, right?
So what is the most important thing to you, and by most important I DO NOT mean the top 10! I mean the ONE THING, that is your top priority. If you put 2 things on your list, re-read and try again.

Great thread but I would like to ask you the same question.

Family
If I make enough to support my family and their needs, along with having enough 'Quality' home time. I am happy. -
For me, family, and home time is important, but I'm trucking to make them money, and I can't do that at home. So I guess in reality my #1 priority is Balance.Drivers girl, crb, Mr Ed and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've been at this trucking game long enough. You seen one company you seen them all.Top thing for me is money of course. But doesn't mean i'll get that.Any good companies you should receive money hometime security and respect all rolled into one but no companies like that exist I don't think. Its always one or the other. One can only hope.Dirvers have lots of main concerns priorities or what have you,but that doesn't mean companies will honor them.
TenTons Thanks this. -
My thoughts exactly.Kind of similar to what I said post#6

Most if not all companies say they respect their drivers. I've never found 1 that understands or respects that the whole reason they are there is us. It is the office mentality and what they are told to tell us so we do what we do and they have a job. So...
Respect is something that comes from within you. You do your job every day, giving it your best for the day. Look in the mirror and respect who you see.
Money and home time are the keys. I missed allot through the years chasing the money part. You have to try to strike a balance ( it's hard) when you are young with young children at home. With experience comes opportunities of either local work or out and back type runs that pay pretty good.
Now that I'm older it is all about the money. A company can be nice, give me at least lip service for respect, but if the money isn't there I leave. -
