Why are you accusing people on the TTR flatbed section of driving rates down?

You're right. I shouldn't have opened my big mouth and fueled this repetitive argument.

Tell us where you're getting the good rates at and we'll stop taking the cheap ones. :)

I'm in Salt Lake City looking for a load that will pay me about $1.60 a mile.

    Is that too cheap?

I have been doing some research and seeing if I can make a "triangle" off a load board. What I did was look at freight in a particular state and found the town with the most freight coming out, and looked at where most of it was going. I than did the same thing in that state until I built my "triangle". I want some opinions on whether or not it is a viable plan or not and if the rates are good.

Leg #1 Coalton, Ky to Indianapolis, In 250 miles at 2.46 pm
DH 125 miles to Columbia City, In
Leg #2 Columbia City, In to Toledo, Oh 125 miles at 3.50 pm
    or
Leg #2 Columbia City, In to Twinsburg, Oh 250 miles at 2.50 pm
DH 162 miles or 37 miles to Warren, Oh
Leg #3 Warren, OH to Coalton, Ky

I know the Place in Ky is Steel Plant but not sure what I would be hauling out of Columbia City or Warren

I would still have to find a load from my domicile to the Ky area but, nothing like that on the particular load board I was looking at. I would have to look at another load board for that but, I don't think I will have a problem getting to ky or getting home, when I want to.

    thanks

On paper, looks do-able. In real life, try it and see.Short loads work just fine, if getting loaded / unloaded times and schedules are reasonable. I have used the triangle idea to get out of slow freight areas, and then back home.

Your right, this is on paper only so, we shall see if it really works out. I am going to make some phone calls tomorrow to the people that know about these loads and see what they say. Does anyone know of a good place to get a load out of, around TN/AL/GA area going to KY?

I didn't mean to hijack this thread but, I don't think it is going anywhere...lol

You'll go broke hauling for those rates and deadheading like that.
