If you decide to use a box like that you will need to put a good thick piece of plywood in the bottom to help distribute weight of the chains and binders. Bottom is not strong enough unless you get it reinforced or use the plywood.
Friend of mine has one like that and it works pretty good with trailer where airlines are on the side like a Great Dane. Kind of a pain in the ### if lines are in center. His opens from the back to front. I have never seen one open to the side but looks like it would be easy to modify brackets.
His truck does not have a long wheelbase and his is the standard size.

Friend of mine had that box on 379 EH. Nice. But he used it only for tools, fuses, bulbs, etc. Not for anything real big or heavy like binders/chains.

Plywood in bottom of tool box will soak up water, swell up, always stay wet and eventually come apart.

Freightlinerbob - I realize you are mostly loaded, but on the occasion you are not, aren't you worried about the tarps getting stolen?

Or, maybe I've just read too many posts on fuel thieves and I'm getting paranoid?

I have a saddle box on my truck and I keep my extra stuff in there 3 straps and all those little 1 strap strap protectors 2 snap binders and a crow bar. I have a head board on the trailer and I keep 12 chains and 12 binders. (Some ratchet some snap) I have two 2x6s stacked on top of each other. So I stand mine up in each corner then lay 2 down end to end in the bottom. I keep my straps on the winches all the time i keep my hooks hooked in the rub rail and bungees around each one and then the left over I keep hanging on my trailer underneath timbers are laid across the dolley supports. I know it's illegal but no ones stopped me for it yet. I have two boxes between the spread that carry my big edge protectors, carpeting, coil racks, rubber mats, and 2 8ft tarps on bottom since I haven't used them in a year. There's two mudflaps hanging behind my chains to keep from hearing so much rattling and in case I need one. Load bar stays under nieth the bunk on the drivers side and so does a strap winder. Because at my company if somebody needs one they'll just grab yours and take off.

i used to just throw my tarps and some bungees on the deck right behind the headboard and take off. Never had anything stolen. On occasion you'll see me running down the road with a few bungees on my deck right behind the boards on my head board. People started getting paranoid so I started putting straps on that stuff but it won't blow off or get stolen. Unless someone just needs a tarp really bad. I also fold my tarps the same way every time so the part that's sticking up has the side rote on it. Just lay your 8fts up there won't nobody steal them.

Maybe we will get the chance to see a Attachment 59302. Been looking for one of those for quite some time.
