By the way I'm not longer going to Maverick this weekend. If you have to go to Little Rock it's probably my spot you were offered. I can't rent a car, they won't rent me one even if I paid for it. And the bus I'd have to catch is an hour and a half from my house and I would have to catch it just after midnight. I can't ask my wife to make that drive at that hour with my son in the car.
So I'm headed to Arnold on sunday in Dallas instead

Yeah, bus trip is 20+ hours. Leaves out of here mid day Fri, gets to LR mid morning Sat.
-
Might be your spot, but she mentioned they had 2 cancel, and one was from NC.
-
oh forget that....
You want to know the real stupid thing. 20 hours from New York. They have routes out of Beaumont TX to Little rock that are 18 hours!!! it's a 6 hour drive. I wasn't going to do it. I will say though that I really wanted to, this bus thing is the only reason I'm not. My wife is super night blind and I don't trust her to drive that late with my son.
Rent a car you could leave saturday. The car wasn't much more thn the bus ticket a they will pay you as much as the ticket. I just couldn't rent one because they charge $300 up front and then credit the extra back when you drop it off and since it's my debit card I have too many bill due the week to be able to wait for the money to be cedited back -
I don't have a real problem with going by bus, won't be the 1st time. Even if I left Sat. that's only one day's notice to my boss.
Now that I know they will definitely be calling me (they hadn't really said that, before, even though they said I was approved), I'll give him a Heads Up on Tuesday, and tell him it could be a real short, like that day, notice.
I'll take my chances, now, that he won't cop a attitude and fire me right then and there.
I did tell Beth that I would be ready to go next time, no matter when they call. -
My problem wasn't with the bus it was getting to the bus.
Good luck over there.
You better be ready to go because it sounds tome like they let the experienced drivers come any time they want and then when somebody cancels they call up the new guys and say "we got a spot, can you be here 6 hours ago" -
I hear ya! And I will be ready, no matter when they call.

You may only have one pierced ear, which one is your choice, no visable tatoes, resonably appearance in general, run like a military regime. They do deliver in the five boroughs of NYC. In four months, I was never there.

JimF,
You might want to think seriously about leaving your job just because you were "approved", because I did that also. Left a job, only to find out that after I did everything they wanted, they 'couldn't use me'.
Like drive55cat said in another post, the proof is ....subjective how you view it so it's not something I'd want to use as evidence; but safe to say after telling them everything that could possibly be of concern to them to disqualify me before leaving, I had been assured that I was already 'cleared and approved' in spite of health issues etc..
Like drive55cat also said, very regimented, military, no tats. That's not necessarily bad, but, your 'approved' statement reminded me of my own disillusionment with them and their system, since I never got to drive for them. Pity, I'm a hell of a worker.
I'm just about to start my new job doing.. flatbed work.. go figure
...with a local company that isn't trying to say health issues would be a factor to avoid me.
That statement is about as close as I will come to saying they expect you to be prime military specimens also. So if you have anything that might get you rejected, keep your job.
Good luck. -
