If you're clearing $3000 on a $10500 gross, you probably shouldn't be claiming to be a smart business person .... I clear $1500 on $4100 gross ... If I was training and ran 6000 miles I would clear about $3300 on only $8200 gross.

Essentially, by your own numbers, you're are admittedly pissing away almost $2000 a week for the "privilege" of driving for CRE.

You get a fuel rebate that goes into your gross. My ytd fuel cost per mile is .09 you buy fuel in the cheapest states and run 59 mph and don't stop your truck. My gross for 2013 will be mid 300,000 after toward and all right offs I hope to net $99,000 to 105,000 did it last year.

Blank out your name, address, social, and show us at least one settlement. I smell BS. $10 says you're a mid to high level CRE operative that works in SLC.

so you're saying you gross $350k and barely pocket $100k???...so you're expense are 2.5x's what you'd net?...you say you don't spend much $$ operating, but those numbers would say otherwise.

When I was with CRE for 4.5 years it was a static rate of $0.90 a mile plus the fuel rebate. I know western regional paid $0.93 per mile but that still is a horrible rate. Even when I was a phase 1 trainer with my tractor completely paid off I would only net about $2000 on my settlement for roughly 5,200 miles with a student. If I was leasing the variable on that would take away 5200 X 0.14 = $728 plus lease payment of $550. So with that take home would only be $722.

With Landstar the loads I move are around $2.20 a mile so there is no comparison between the two companies. Everyone I talk to at Landstar asks how I could make any money at $0.90 a mile and I tell them miles, miles, and more miles. So that does not follow the motto "work smarter not harder."
