Hi Everyone!
I've been gone for a long time. Never been so busy in my life between ill family, work etc. Nice to see you all again!!!
Finally got my truck ready to go, thought twice about it now with gas prices and decided to park it a little longer, take a job with a local O/O until I have a larger cushion. This is just scary!
It's definitely time to strike! One day would get their d*** attention. Even working for someone else I'd park for a day easily. Heck, 12 hours would get their attention!!
What's up with not being able to get everyone to see this? I realize there are millions of truckers, but think about even 1/4 of them parked for 12 hours
It's time for a strike!

I agree. My cash reserves are wiped out. I am just a flat tire from going bankrupt.
You don't see anyone talking abut it in the news. We are just invisible to the present administration.
If I had the money I would step up, but I'm broke. I have been getting raped by the brokers and shippers this last three months and with fuel prices, I have just about had it. -
Tell that to the brokers who are ripping everybody off.

What would it take to get this in the news? Parked trucks. No food, clothing etc. It's in our local news here but that's not enough

It's big oil doing this......because the demand has gone down for gas they are raising the price of oil/diesel to compensate for the loss in demand because they know that unlike cars, big truck have to keep rolling and that demand will never drop. We are a gold mine for big oil! They are so hell bent in making money they will do whatever it takes to make it, even if it pull this country into a major recession and this needs to stop before it's too late.
You're wrong about one thing, this is a war. This is a war to maintain our way of life and to provide for the ones we love. We can't do this paying $4.05 for fuel (price of diesel at a local T stop here in NC) $10,000 log book fines for a simple mistake....$300.00 ( or way more ) to unload a trailer when it should be no cost to us....trying to make a living on less than a $1.50 per mile while paying operating costs and your personal bills....Outrageous toll rates....BS idling laws. Do i even need to say how much the fines for excessive idling can be? No matter if it is -10!
Trucking is a business but for the vast majority of people who take the constant abuse from the state, local and federal governments, not to mention the time away from the people we love, it is a way of life. You don't drive a truck to get rich. You do it because you love it and that's why so many people are holding on by the skin of their teeth and fighting for every scrap they can get. Don't you think that there would be a hell of a lot of empty trucks sitting every where you looked right now. People would just say the hell with it and walk away if there were no passion for this profession.
I myself love driving and there is nothing else i would want to do but the one thing i hate about it is the.....i don't give a #### about you or anyone elses mentality of way to many drivers today.
You want to know what the last 20 years of that mentality has gotten the trucking industry?
Then just open your eyes and look around........and if we don't get off our ##### and do something now then it's going to get a helluva a lot worse.....and you will have no one to blame but yourself! -
Also.. Oil is a commodity and is sold on a supply and demand basis. Our government does not regulate the price, that is controlled by the world market and the godless speculators. should the US declare war on the oil supplying nations? or maybe wall street? you bet they are getting rich, but thats the way a free market works. -

I dont understand why a walmart driver would strike unless your talking about an independant. Sorry, not sure if I fully understand this reasoning. My impression is that the company drivers would have no reason to strike. They have nothing to loose.
