My boyfriend lived in a freightliner condo during his first winter here and he said he never ever was able to get warm in the thing even with the heat blasting.

Thank you for this info. Invaluable to us as just starting. We got on with a company that seems to have had issues in the past, but they asked for all the right paperwork and tests before starting, so that's a good sign. Thank you!

Depends on the heater, I suppose. My buddy is out there tonight as I write this post in -10 with wind chill down to -30 and his sleeper heater does just fine. He also uses an electric (12v) blanket.

What experience levels are required in the ND Oil Patch? I see that lots list 2 years of verifiable experience but I was curious if this is just the larger companies or now with the cat being out of the bag about how good can be that the companies are more selective. Or is it like most places ... if you know someone you might have a better shot without the experience they are asking for.

Craigslist is a great place to look if you have no experience . Mostly small companies looking for drivers and accept no experience. . Look in the jobs section under transport

Its over? Lol. There are plenty of good driving jobs up here. Haul oil for an actual buyer: Concord, Plains, Tesoro etc. New trucks and plenty of hours. Starting at $26/hr plus OT.

There are 50,000 wells planned to be drilled and they only complete 2,000 a year.. Plenty of time left in the Bakken!!

That's really good news; I'm glad there are some optimists here who can understand this boom isn't going to disappear tomorrow.

Eninety2, I do not work as a crude hauler full time. I am a drilling fluids engineer on a couple rigs in the williston basin. I work a 14 day on/ 14 day off schedule. On my 2 weeks off Nov-April I haul crude. Those companies I mentioned are working their drivers 5 14 hour days and 2 days off. Hope that helps.

    Eninety2 Thanks this.
