How is the maintenance on the trucks and is there tons of overtime?

You may also want to look at some of the companies doing Frac work, they require CDL and will train you.
Allhart Thanks this. -
How long ago did you start and do you still like it there?
-
There is a point to this statement. It does NOT hurt to have an education to fall back on. If, after 10 years of doing a different line of work, you decide that you still want to go into trucking, then you will have a 10 year work history behind you, NOT to mention having an education to fall back on.

MBI wouldnt take me when I was in ND in August 2013 when I got out of trucking school. I don't know if things were slow or what, I went to a trucking school and got 160-hour certification. Oh well.

I vote with brianthenurse, starting with a frac company may be your quickest foot in the door. It worked for me. Water, vac truck, etc., were looking for experience. A friend of mine got in to a water hauling gig because someone put in a good word. The same place would give me the time of day. I was hired by a frac company to be a hot shot driver.
