OMG UTI is the worst! I saw someone else say they liked Saddle Creek in ATL. Most of the time I could be in and out of there but because they couldn't keep enough empties to load in there, quite a few times I wound up waiting to be loaded and then had to sleep in the cull de sac after backing into it.
Best and worst

GP in Cedar Springs was terrible before we could drop and hook, never liked Rock Tenn Solvay if there wasn't an empty. That beer distributor in Asheville could unload you in about 11 minutes, same with the one in Rockford. Menards stores...well you could usually gauge the IQ of the receiving team to figure out how long it would take...hated those. Going to places that cared was few and far between.
freebirdusa and xlsdraw Thank this. -
Menard's stores where the worst, but part of the blame falls on the the DC for the way they load the trailer. Had a fridge, carpet rolls, pallets of tile, wheel barrows, and many other items come crashing to the ground when I would open the doors. Always keep the door between you and the load, def. with menard's.
Pita getting there because its east coast but the beer dist in randolph mass was alway good, could park, had a food truck, and where quick about it. Plus if you got lucky you pulled dunnage back out. -
Would back my trailer up to a telephone pole in Randolph, secure everything the best I could and then get away from the truck, walk into Randolph and hang out on a Saturday or Sunday. Same with Union, NJ...train to the city 5 blocks down.freebirdusa Thanks this.

You must be one of them "Paid tourist" Millis is always talking about lol. Those are fun cities. Niagara is just down the street from greenpac/normpac.. that's nice in summer. You can park right outside the docks in Philadelphia. . Not a bad spot either.

I'm one of them 'paid tourists' myself. I'm always scouting for new off-duty adventures. They're out there - if yer willing to get up and walk a little...
PowderBlue and 77smartin Thank this. -
I wasn't gonna be a prisoner in that truck...your right...need to get out and walk a little. Park at the Pilot in Oak Creek, WI and hitch a ride to a Brewers game (Pilot manager turned me on to that), park by Jetro in Philly and head downtown (Cop said I would be ok), that beer place in Cleveland...back up to the side docks with doors closed and head downtown...and many many more places to go explore.PowderBlue and rarudi Thank this.

Last Friday on my way to Shelby, I stopped for the night at the KC MO Pilot. In need of a good walk and craving some authentic KC BBQ, I decided to hoof it on over to a joint called Knuckleheads. Just shy of 4 miles away, it took me a little over an hour to get there. Imagine my surprise upon finding a block party style concert, featuring The Mavericks. Had to pay $41 to get in, but it was well worth it. Great music, great food, and a huge crowd populated by a horn-of-plenty of nicely dressed pretty gals.
The adventure continues...
bmovers and playamwj12 Thank this. -
