If you're going to buy that old a truck, I'd go older and avoid EGR/ ACCERT altogether. I've looked into the aftermarket DPF systems and the price is in the $15-20,000 range. That seems cost prohibitive to me and there are reports of them not working properly. CARB has even made a provision for truck owners that spent the money and then if the system didn't work, CARB certified the trucks anyways because "a good faith effort" was made. ASININE.
"Fleet Maintained" only means they changed the oil and greased it every 50,000 miles wether it needed it or not.
About to pull the trigger, need advice

lol, they are to old, some real experts here.
-
I didn't say I'm a expert. I just said what worked for me.

This subject has been hammered at, time & time again, but it is the most important aspect of anyone proposing to "buy a truck".
Your profile says "wannabe". How much actual experience do you have as a driver, in this industry?
If you're truly a wannabe, or even a short-timer newbie, the smart thing to do is wait until you have some experience under your belt before even considering buying a truck.
Even if you can afford the truck (payments),, do you have an extra $10k to $20k set aside for unforeseen breakdowns and mechanical problems, to be able to survive past them?SheepDog Thanks this. -
only the engine from Detroit have EGR
-
For those saying 13k is a lot, I haven't seen an 06 less than 20k here in ca. Trucks are pricey here. I am not a driver, I will be hiring one. So what year did they introduce egr? Since I don't have a cdl and I'm a new company, every dealer declines me. Do u guys know of any?
-
whoa, hold on there Nellie, just exactly what does your company consist of at the moment?
and being declined in your position is not a surprise.
exactly why are you going this route? -
I'm going this route just to get things started and then I will buy a new truck next year. I just want to get the ball rolling and I feel like this is the right choice since i don't have to make payments I can just buy the truck and get rolling so when I go to the dealer sometime next year, they won't hit me with the new company policy. As to work, I was broker for ten years, I have a few customers that will give work
-
funny , you thought I was speaking of you. you must have missed the " lol , they are to old" , you are the only joker who bought an old truck.
you missed my point entirely. THEY ARE NOT TO OLD OF A TRUCK TO BUY> -
Ok guess I missed that. Thanks.
