Thanks JB amd Josh. Well being from the tri state area, we ppl always in a rush for everything, so I plan on trying to do everythig at comfortable pace not to slow, not to fast.

 

Know how much it costs to buy and install a "trucking fridge" in a condo truck? Got to but it and have it installed by Primes shop. It's a couple hundred more than it would for you to buy a mini fridge at Walmart, Lowes, or some other appliance place. A couple hundred dollars less, and it's a fridge with way more space.

Prime will remove the passenger seat from the LW and install brackets to make it easier for you to secure anything you want to put there. Doesn't have to be fridge, but a lot of guys do. Pretty genius stuff the way they add cabinets and other stuff. Besides, unless you are going to share a truckers bed, why should you need a passenger seat.

Cheapest way to live on the road is to shop in regular grocery stores and eat out if the truck. I can eat on less than $100 a week with a set shopping list and meal planning. However I could use a bigger fridge than my mini fridge in the condo. I usually have to break down stuff from original packaging and zip loc it to make room

I've been in a condo for going on 6 years. If I wasn't a trainer I'd grab the LW and make the extra .05

Ive been inside them and there is plenty of room unless you are some sort of pack rat, or bring far too much stuff on the road than you need. In my condo, the cabinets my trainees uses are empty still even though I don't have a trainee at the moment. The only reason there is anything stored on the top bunk right now is that it's clothes that I'm too lazy to put away.

I had a trainee that was 6'8". He was worried, he's had no problems. Says the bed is long enough.

 

Only have one legit gripe with the mini truck. Sideboxes!

At least on the cascadia, you only have outside access to the one and the AC unit takes up a huge chunk of real estate in there. In the winter when you're carrying anti gel, extra washer fluid, and rock salt in addition to the usual suspects, you pretty much have to go under the bunk to access to the other 'sidebox' which is annoying.

You listening Prime? Order your new trucks with a door to the sidebox on the driver's side!

 

How much would they charge to install a mount for a refrigerator or tv?

 

I'm starting with Prime in a couple of weeks and THRILLED to be making .42 a mile - no problem giving up space. Now they told me that the guys could take out the passenger seat to make room for a mini-frig. Do they still do that? Echo last post, how much do they charge to install frig? Thanks!

Well, with all the complaining I guess I should throw my hat in the ring too. LW Frightliner Columbia with a much-loathed automatic transmission, and I usually pull 45' long spread axles.

Actually, the only thing I have to complain about is the blasted transmission. Since the longest single period I have yet spent in this truck is seven days, it's not like I need a bunch of junk for me on the road. Clothing, a couple of books, and money for food and beverages, and I'm good to go! And since I pull flatbeds, I don't have a lot of down time to worry about entertaining myself.

Although I do enjoy the occasional chuckles at the ongoing parking wars down at your local "Crash and Bash", also known as the "Gag and Spew" or truckstop for you newbies...

 

Good luck on that .42 cents per mile + .05 for north east... They'll stick you up there for weeks and if you're lucky you'll be averaging over 1600 miles for those weeks, especially if they dispatch you out of that useless Pittston terminal.
