He's right. I had a brain fart. Yes if the final went, you'd only have your driver to send out anything. However if the driver were the only thing working I don't think you'd be heard even at half a mile. Maybe a sixteenth of a mile.

OK I guess ... if you say so but I've never seen that happen.

I thought that since there is no amplification happening in a final that has been damaged (opened) because there is no conduction, there is no path for the RF to follow out of the radio. Hence no signal.

Ok sorry took so long to get back on I replaced the coax and the antenna mount still have lights come on but not as bad so it got me thinking it could be my mic cause in certain spot it works no lights but then I was talking with other driver on it going down road and he would lose me mid conversation then pop back on and we were only half mile to mile apart he said its just cause its a small radio

So question 2 is any one now of a good cb shop out there thay is reasonable and won't screw me to hard to look at it and build it up lack of better words

The radio could also have a bad driver causing the in and out. I had radio that seem to work for about 5 minutes. After that it was like I was keying and unkeying the mic. Cause was a bad driver.

The driver in the radio. I don't know what kind of Driver you are. Not much to fix.
