I'm buying a Doonan 53' step deck trailer and I will want to get the 4 aluminum ramp set up that's 20" wide with stands and all the other parts. I see there is only about 3 major places that make them, Discountramps.com, HDramps.com & Landsport.com. Is there much difference between them? Any better or worse than the other? I like the Discountramps.com hangers better than Landsport but other than that, didn't see much difference from looking at there web site. I see where Landsport makes some ramps that are 30k lbs per axle rated now too. Anyone been around all of them and have an opinion?

I have the 18" wide from Discount ramps. Very well built. I beleive rated at 34K per axle.
Wish I had the 20" only because I changed step deck heights so now I have to use a 4x4 under and over when using as load levelers. My last trailer only had 18" step.
I also built my own custom rack to haul the ramps in. Most carry them on the upper deck waiting to be stolen, I suppose.bergy Thanks this. -
Whatever you buy. Throw away the junk aluminum pins. And get steel pins

Mine came with steel pins not aluminum pins. Got mine from Discount ramps. I also saved big on shipping by stopping by their place in WI.and picking them up. They had room to get tractor and trailer in.

Hmmm I got a set of Landsport and a set of sturdy lite. Both came with aluminum

I can't imagine using aluminum pins as I've bent my steel pins couple times and once had to make new ones.
Actual problem was air in trailer suspension dropping when off loading and stoping half way down the ramps.
Now I have a total dump valve on rear trailer suspension to eleimate that problem. -
My deck is 24", so I got a set of the Landsport 30,000 lbs. ramps/load leveler 24" wide. They are 30,000 per section, so you could have 60,000 on the ramps at one time as longs as don't have two axles on one section at a time. They are heavy, each ramp section weighs just over 100 lbs. Because they are 24" wide, the only option I have is to store them on the deck, usually, the upper deck. They are a pain to move and set up. They get in the way of other loads, I have to move them at times. I am getting better about taking loads so that the ramps do not have to be moved. Despite the trouble, they have paid for themselves several times over.
They come in handy whenever I have to put my truck in the shop, I load my pickup truck on my stepdeck so I have a ride home.Last edited: Dec 24, 2013

I wish I could store mine there, my axles slide.

do yourself a favor and buy a second set of brackets so you can ramp things from bottom to top deck. I just got done moving a skidsteer from bottom to top deck. I use chains to secure the ramps in place, which is possible but probably not OSHA approved and a real pain.
I have same discountramp's as flightline, I picked mine up there as well and built similar brackets for storage as well. I guess great minds think alike. I'm well satisfied with the 20" 24k/axle ramps from them, if anything I think I'd go a bit smaller. They're just a bit awkward and heavy for me, and I have no plans to haul anything demanding 24k/axle or more anyways. It does work out nice that they're the same height as my top deck (20") whether I set them on their side, or if I stack all four up and strap them, which is also a handy way to make a bridge.Cetane+ Thanks this.
