Yeah, I was a bit surprised they didn't have us chain up for the descent from the Eisenhower. That got a little greasy and the 35 mph speed limit for trucks was a good thing. I was also a bit surprised to see a Swift driver go roaring past me on the descent, tail gating a car and passing another semi on a sharp curve. Very very bad... I wouldn't have been surprised to have seen him straddling the divider.

Right now I'm finishing a 30 in Fruita, CO... a VERY nice welcome center with parking for several trucks that isn't noted in my handy dandy truck stop/rest area guide. I've noted it now.

There was almost white out conditions and very strong winds coming over Vail pass, and again just east of Glenwood. At times it was difficult to see lanes, but the reflectors on the side of the road and the rumble strip were adequate.

Glad I applied two coats of Rain-x before leaving Denver. I still had to stop three times to windex the rear views, windshield, headlights, and markers.

Should be smooth sailing through the Escalante. Hope to make it to Salinas tonight, Hesperia tomorrow night, then drop this delivery Friday by noon and get home to my honey! She's preparing a feast of kalbi and kimchi.... :D :D :D

A very nice 600 miles today, so I have 500 to go tomorrow.
Nice weather, and nice roads for the most part.
I pulled in here with 16 minutes left on my 11, so the distance and timing were just right.

Now for a long awaited shower!

At least traffic should be light tomorrow. That should help if weather doesn't get in the way.

    home sweet home

Couldnt start my clock until 1300 today, finally made it to the dc about 1800. Traffic was a bit busy and there was an accident on the 152 that stopped traffic for a bit, took about a hour for the merge and 2 miles to be done...

Wife met me at the dc then I went and repossessed my car, had to stop at the auto part store for a headlight. Irritating I get the car back with an empty gas tank, headlight out, wiper blades shot, dirty as heck. I feel my mother neglected the car at the end since she wasnt planning on keeping it anymore. Tomorrow I need to do a good inspection on it since who knows if it might need anything else done.

Went and picked up my oldest daughter from the ex then we all went to Dennys for dinner and came home to open the gifts.

Happy Holidays. We sang Carols, and played Pictionary, Steve enjoyed the free booze and the kids went crazy at My Mom's house last night. We got about 6 hours sleep before kids came downstairs happy by the pile of gifts under the tree, So we are setteling down to cinnabuns and opening yet another toy, I think Steve plans on doing some stuff to the truck today and eventually I'll make a brisket with braised cabbage and potatoes. I have enough left over ding dong cake to take care of dessert.
I hope after the birth of the Sun on Yule and with each day getting longer and brighter that you all look forward to the renewel of the earth and take the optimism of the season into your hearts.
