Was wondering since their rent is usually pretty low if anyone has used the YMCA in any area for rent, if even temporarily.
Was looking at the Midland area.
Thanks
Anyone ever shack up at a YMCA?

WorldofTransportation and Big Duker Thank this. -
a few ymca's still offer it, but most have shut down due to violence, drugs and other crimes. you could check hostels they are usually reasonably priced.

I used the Y just twice, it was about 9 years ago when I rode my bike up to Alaska, the first time I got bit by bed bugs, the second time I had my shaving kit stolen. I put the Y in the same category as Greyhound Bus Lines. You get what you pay for. Cheap is not always good.
BigRigCT Thanks this. -
get your drugs at the YMCA

I worked at the YMCA for 30 years. They started phasing out room rentals many years ago and either built new facilities without them or knocked down walls and converted the space to fitness areas. The YMCA now is primarily a fitness business that uses its nonprofit status as a competitive advantage over the Gold's Gyms of the world. They do offer a lot of child care and after school programs as well. It's a good place to grab a shower if you are near one. Most will give you a tour and a 1 day guest pass if you act like you might join. Just don't bend over in the shower to pick up a bar of soap. Many are hot spots for the gay community on certain nights of the week.

Which is why The Village People said it was fun to stay there.
