Calitrucker is just right, I will be starting a local job that will be around 44,000 if i just do it, more like 50,000 if I hustle a little. I have around a year and a half driving tractor trailers. The last offer was a little low around 35k 'cause they only gave me credit for six months exp. Those numbers add up just like he said. drive55cat

Well actually he is Cal regional which means he goes from LA to the Sacramento area about 99% of the time. Though he does not get home nightly he does get home on weekends and sometimes takes his breaks at home since he lives on his main driving lane.

I am glad you are happy at the pumpkin, but your average pumpkin driver does not do what you do. but does work like you do. for what is considered in trucking to be one of the bottom feeders.

I might be biased however since it was a pumpkin team that ripped my hood off at the Pilot in Columbus Oh some years ago and tried to take off. They got caught by the cops on the way to Cinci.:biggrin_255:

This is my Schneider National story. I was sent a conditional job offer by them to start March 26, 2008. I was to check into a hotel in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada and class was to begin on the 27th. It was to consist of 2 days air brake training(a part required to drive a truck in Canada), then 2 weeks in class training and 3 weeks on the road with an instructor. Anyway, I spent close to $300 dollars getting all the stuff required to do the course like criminal back ground check, written part of cdl done, medical, driving history check, etc. My wife changed her schedule at work and baby sitting was arranged for my son. Then I get a call this week saying in the last 24 hours Schneider National has changed its policey and will not be hiring inexperience drivers anymore and only hiring experienced! If you ever get experience please feel free to re-apply. I told the lady you got to be kidding? And she says nope! I say I'm gonna sue you and she just says do what ya gotta do and hangs up. Then about an hour later I get another call from them. This is my recruiter and she says Schneider is offering 1 last class starting tomorrow in Cambridge do you want to go? This is at 2pm in the afternoon the day before. I had to decline cause I can't organize baby sitting and everything that soon. I think I was offered this to save there butt's from a law suit. Also, I was to scared to accept there offer after reading the reports on here....who's to say that they would not have me there for a few days and then just say "get-r, your not cutt'in it".
I have calls into a couple of lawyer's right now concerning this but have not talked to one yet. I was given the number by our Ministry of Labour here and they believe I have a case. I will keep posting on here to let you all know what is happening. I also have a national tv program that does stories on company's like this interested in my story and they are going to get back to me within 8 weeks. In the meantime, keep posting your stories on these pages and tell everyone that will lend an ear to your story. Does anyone know of any trucking news papers that do stories like this? It's about time companys like this are held accountable! Always remember, "thy pen is mighty'er then thy sword"!
I feel for all of you ripped off by this company. Good-luck!

    Get-r

If I owned a gas station you would have been usin' on the way to the orientation class, I may sue Schnieder, too. They rejected you, meaning you aren't going on the trip, so I, too, will lose. How about the province? They may sue Schneider. They'll miss out on the tax revenue your gas purchases would have brought. Ditto for the store where you would have bought your supplies. Ditto for the restaurants you would have dined in while at orientation.....Man, this could go on forever. Your claim is for how much? 300 Canadian dollars? They changed their policy, which is something they have the right to do, and they aren't obligated to hold press conferences a week ahead of time so you can be forewarned.

Time to chalk it up to tuition paid in full to the college of hard knocks and move on to another outfit. 300 is nothing, really. Forget about it. You don't really have a case, and the lawyer will cost you more than the 300, IF you are lucky enough to be awarded.

Tip's right. Three hundred bucks just wouldn't really be worth the time, trouble, and aggravation to try and litigate recovering it.

Three thousand, on the other hand, might be another story.

Rad, when you called these guys pretending to be a company insider, what kind of info did they give you about your own performance? Depending on what was given and its truthfulness, you may have a civil case against them brewing.

Companies aren't supposed to give out any negative info that can't be backed up with objective proof. This is so vindictive people with fragile egos and small penises can't starve you and your family over some silliness. Of course many a company will resort to doing pretty much that by saying something akin to the old classic "We don't give out that information" when asked about former employees. If I were a boss and heard that about a prospect, I would know there is something negative about him that his old company can't tell me. Then I would start to wonder if it's worth the risk to hire him, and I may well not. This is the purpose of said classic 'code message'.

I called about my pre-hire yesterday I got back in school a few weeks ago, They now won't take me even though I was from an approved Sage school. The recruiter said they have been absolutely covered up in applications and are filling positions with already experienced drivers or from students going to their school only.

She said I was welcome to check back in a couple of months as things change constantly. I told her politely I might do that but I've got two others lined up right now and won't be job hopping in my first year. That's what they told me anyway, don't know how true it is.
