I am removing my 9 speed eaton transmission from my truck ... Once the driveshafts are down and wires and airlines are out of the way..... will the engine need to be jacked up so the transmisson can come out? A mechanic told me that the engine and trans are supported by one mount.. This is my first time...please help

    thanks Chad

Go underneath and look. Most trucks have engine mounts on the engine BEFORE the transmission bell housing.

Some have mounts ON the transmission bellhousing instead of the engine mounts.

Some also have a mount on the very back end of the transmission, behind the shifter.

If yours has bellhousing mounts, then you will have to support the engine to remove the transmission. I use a chain hoist for this.

You also need a good transmission jack.

Be safe. Make sure that neither the engine or transmission can fall.

I think that mechanic is correct, those older white/gmc volvo trucks did have to have the engine supported to remove transmission because the mounts are on the transmission.
