I was wondering if Truck Driving Institute is a legit school to go to? And if trucking companies reimburse your tuition why is it so hard for this school to get me approved for a loan that will be paid back?

It might help if we knew where both you and the school were located.
BTW, there are at least 3 "Truck Driving Institute" schools, each in different states. I'm sure there's even more.

Goodwill Industries has a free CDL school for NC residents if funding is available. A few drivers posted they went to the school and got good jobs at graduation.

The reason it's hard to get approved for a loan that will be "paid back" by the employer, is that probobly 9 out of 10 folks who get into trucking don't last 6 monts. They either can't get hired, fail a drug screen, have an accident, or just can't handle the lifestyle change and quit. These trucking schools know that most folks won't make it as a driver ad want to make sure they get paid by the 9 who don't last as well as the 1 who does.

Look into the local community colleges and truck driver training. NC has an excellent community college system. I went to the NC Truck Driver Training School in Johnston County but other counties have programs similar. I think Gaston has a program.

Almost $6000 to go to school?!?! That is flat out outragious. You're in Charlotte I don't think highly of isothermal over there in rutherforton or whatever town that school is in but they only want $3500 for their program. They offer placement as well me and the instructors just didn't see eye to eye. Its supposed to be 1 on 1 in the cab instead of 3 students sharing one truck. They have 3 trucks there last I knew and trailers are loaded. I know its an hour an a half away but check into something like that. They have housing close by to save money on gas beats the hell out of paying almost $6000 to go to school IMO but that's just me.
