Sounds to me like the cop was determined to write you for something. I would definitely fight this ticket. There should be info on the ticket with the address and phone number of the court, along with information about date and time to appear. In some jurisdictions, you can fight a ticket by mail. In most though, you have to actually appear before the judge or traffic referee. It may actually cost you more to fight it, than to just pay the fine, but it is something you just don't need on your driving record.

GO to court, get it dismissed, no attorney needed. Just some DOT cops making up stuff they know nothing about.

That should make it easier. You didn't get accessed CSA points to fight about.

No, what I'm saying is the ticket is incorrect, and since it was issued by a city cop and you didn't get a DOT citation from that cop you didn't get any CSA points for the accident. If it had been the DOT or a DOT certified officer you would have gotten a report to hand in... same report you get when you go through a roadside or scale inspection. It would list the violations and they automatically go against your csa score and they stay there even if you beat the ticket. The only way to get csa points removed is to go through some silly redtape.

Excuse my ignorance, but how exactly would the entire axle just fall off? Did you do a pretrip on the trailer? If you did, wouldn't you be able to see that something wasn't right there?
