Bayou- that's called looking at the big picture. Some guys just can't do that. I have a buddy who runs reefer loads to the east coast out of the midwest. When he's in NYC, he tells me he's usually better off to deadhead to Ohio and get the same amount of money going back to Wi/Mn that he would get off the east coast and he gets to run 1/2 way back empty

Unless he just never wants to go home because he will have to get out of the state on his dime.

I have thought and am almost sure I am going to relocate out of the Chicagoland area when I purchase a truck. At least out of IL just for the purpose of saving money on my taxes. I pay 6K in property taxes every year....

Here in TN I paid $250 a year in property taxes. 15acres with a stream, atv trails (that we made) and seclusion... I would never live anywhere that charges $6k a year in property taxes, unless I was well off.. In that case I would still live in the back woods, just more acre's and a more water..lol

Sounds like a nice place and that is cheap. I have 3 acres in an oak woods out in the country with a couple out buildings and a nice house. We pay $1600

My daughter and her husband pay $2500 or $3500, can't remember exactly but, there ain't no way in palm tree's I would pay that much. I am not a material person and I have devised a plan to live off the land, with minimal costs, once I find the land. If I can find a piece of land that doesn't charge much in taxes, I will be good.
