Running with JCT

Well I can't speak on team miles but my solo miles are pretty much all I can run. I would have to say speak with your DM. Be firm but polite and say in no uncertain terms that the miles need to get better or the feet will be walking. I hardly ever sit on loads so something's wrong here.

I've used the late pay to bring forward a load several times and comes in handy if its needed but low or negative checks will happen in this business. As long as the next check is good to compensate for the prior, I don't worry about it. In other words, I don't look week-to-week but instead view the longer term.

 

That would be another case of GPS focus. You know the better way, so ignore the GPS when it says to go off the super slab. as soon as you pass that intersection, it will smooth out. Then again, I generally ignore US higways, unless near shipper/receiver.

 

Havent tried a cobra but my Rand will put you in some nasty spots if you're not watchful. Plus the Rands have a couple of glaring errors. The worst from my perspective because I'm there so much is Columbus, Oh. According to my Rand 510 every inch of Columbus inside 270 is restricted or not recommended for truck traffic. For the record only through hazmat is restricted in Columbus otherwise if its not posted its legal... about 90% of the city.

 

Cobra is the most accurate in my experience, though it has some features missing that others have.

 

Take the PC Miler and the Garmin and mix them together. That would be a great GPS.

 

I have tried a number of different gps over the years. My personal favorite has been the rand McNally, though even within the different modes 510.520.710.and 720 each has its own quirks. I've never met a routing tool that should be followed blindly.
