I guess I wasn't being clear. It's legal in some states to partake in smoking pot. It's not by DOT, obviously. So if it is "legal" in some states, why bust balls and call names and throw accusations when, said "doper" really isn't breaking any laws? To inquire about certain testing pertaining to a "legal" substance in many states, isn't cause for insult. How do people misconstrue the OP so badly? He didn't say "I want to dope up right before my shift" or "how do I beat the drug test" but simply, "who does what?" It's peoples closed minds that severely inhibit change

If you are a CDL holder then you shouldn't be smoking pot. That's it. End of story. There doesn't have to be long winded discussions or a 38 page harrange about its legal in this state but not in this state. According to the FMCSA a driver SHALL NOT partake. As a CDL holder that's the word you live by. End of story.

Again, who said they wanted to smoke pot while being a CDL holder? No one. You have misunderstood the original question. It has been my attempt to make you all realize that but apparently minds are closed.

It's not about "closed minds." It's about if you HAVE to ask, you've got a reason to... and the law concerning legal prescribed drugs means that you don't have to ask. If you're asking, you've been partaking, and you don't need to be anywhere near this industry. There are enough accidents, injuries and deaths without someone trying to beat the system and toking up in the back row.

...and no, it won't ever change, nor should it.

My mind isn't closed. I smoked pot. A lot of it. And I enjoyed it. Back then. Before I got my CDL. Two years before I got my CDL.

Again, the assumption that the OP will be toking up in the back row is ridiculous. How did you reach such a bold conclusion? By your logic, you drank a beer so you will most definitely drink and drive.

But you know you're not supposed to smoke pot because at any time you can be given a random drug screen. You know pot stay in your system for at the very least 1 month and a hair sample can possibly go back a year. Why are we even discussing it? For CDL holders it can cost you a career. You think a career is worth a joint? Be my guest. More frieght for me.

By no means was my "closed minds" statement an attempt to degrade anyone. Joseph, you quit 2 years before getting your CDL. I'm going to ASSume you didn't know you'd be a professional driver two years from that point. What if the company had a specific test that could test back 3 years? Would you not have found a company who didn't judge you based on something you did two years ago? Seems a little harsh right? I know 2 years is much longer compared to 90 days however, it is relevant.

Yeah actually I did. I had to finish out a contract on my previous job. And If they would have gone back 3 years, that would have been my problem. But here's the thing, I didn't quit to drive a truck. I quit because I was 23 and the party was over. It was time to grow up. And I knew I was going to drive because I wanted to. I'm a 3rd generation driver. So don't give me "you didn't know...." BS. Yeah I did. And it wasn't a last resort choice like it is for some of you because you think this is an easy way to make a living. I got news for you. You've got a lot to learn kid. This is my world. When you can truck like I do or iron pony or the rest of the pros, then come talk to me. Until then get over your "pot BS". Just because you couldn't figure out how to put the joint done for 5 minutes shouldn't affect the rest of us. We already know not to and by the way, in case you hadn't noticed, we are already out here making money. Try to catch up.
