Dont be scared of donner my first time going across it I was alone 78k gross. since then I've been running donner 3 years straight never smoked my brakes and I did it in 11th gear. None of the hills are that long they drop for a mile to 2 then level out a little. Just take it in 8th or 7th Jakes on and taker easy down.. or I'll drive up and drive your truck down Lol

It isn't that bad, I have done it a lot. Just man up and drive thru the pass. I have NVR gone thru Colorado though.
Skydivedavec and cjwatson1972 Thank this. -
What I am floored by is the idea that you have to avoid something that thousands of people do every day. If you take an alternate route every time one faces a challenge, when will you learn how to actually drive a truck?
Skydivedavec and cjwatson1972 Thank this. -
Tell him TRUCKERGIRL0720 said :Time to man up and quit acting like a little B.... --emphasize the name "Truckergirl" if that don't do it -tell him to get in the sleeper with his teddy and go to sleep.
Cjwatson 1972 should be thanking you shortly for giving his Codriver the ....s to get over Donner --if that doesn't work tell him Truckergirl is coming to collect his man card.
GEEZ!MACK E-6, Skydivedavec, Dinomite and 3 others Thank this. -
Deffinately don't go that much out of route.Like someone said companies do keep track of miles and they may be raising an eyebrow if they see an out of route fuel stop and guess what, you and co driver will have to pay for the fuel. Why don't you guys look over your hrs and see if the hrs can be changed around and you drive over Donners.
Skydivedavec, "Hang - Man" and cjwatson1972 Thank this. -
Serious note cjwatson 1972, Way Way back when i was a youth and drove for a brief time --i had no knowledge of any danger on the big bad hills and passes --there was no internet or forums or info that i personally had about any of them. My paper map said to go that way and i did - i wish i had more info back then but you didn't -only by way of experience -which i didn't have. I didn't know i should be scared of any of them so i wasn't it, wasn't a big deal just respect the road and he you will be fine --i didnt die i guess i was to stupid to know i could .
It was going 20 mph up hill for 15 miles that bothered me LOLSkydivedavec, cjwatson1972, Joetro and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you guys want to take the long route I don't see why you shouldn't. Don't forget the camera so you can take lots of pictures. After all, you are on holidays!

So you're saying if u had a company you would let your drivers go around the long way while still paying them miles and fuel out of your own pocket? Hard to believe you have 6 years behind the wheel tbhTruckergirl0720, cjwatson1972 and Moon_beam Thank this.
